Not much activity in this section. Where's everyone? I've been on vacation and away from the computer for a while. I think I'm back for now. Foodwise, I've been doing some cheating. But I'll survive. Here I am wanting to get back to being 100% raw; back to less fat. Mangos are still everywhere. Not so many maraƱones though. Those are cashew fruit which add a great flavor to smoot

Hi Jodi, thanks for the great link. The food looks wonderful. I bookmarked it so I can refer to it later. Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I'm not really back now. I'm off to the beach for 10 days and won't have internet access. It's mango season, so I'm now eating tons of them. I'm hoping the cashew fruit will be ripe when I get to the beach house. I go around the neighb

Well, Lent is over and it's Holy Week. Therefore my Lenten fast is over. What a great experiment. I'm really glad I took it on. I went through a cleansing which I still feel the effects of. But I'm better today than yesterday. I've been thinking of continuing with one day a week juice fast. I really liked it. I didn't loose any weight (YEAH!!!!!). That wasn't my intention or goal. My goa

Been very busy. Eating well. Still fasting Wed and Fri during the day and it's working out just fine. I've noticed more detoxing during those days which I see is a good thing. I went to a restaurant with a friend last night and we found one with a wonderful raw salad. It wasn't the usual panamanian salad, but much better. I hope to go there again when I take friends out. Foodwise, n

Thanks, Rowlion, for the input. I remember reading about coffee enemas a few years back and had forgotten about them. I think you've hit on something because I've now got a sore throat which probably came from fasting and eating low fat. By giving my body a break, more "stuff" has been released into my system. BTW, even Ehert writes about using enemas with fasts. Ehert on pg. 158

I agree with Trive. Maybe you could also examine your food combinations. What was fine before may not be anymore. As you become cleaner, you'll also notice some foods that were OK a month ago are no longer agreeable. At least that's what I notice. Lara Bars are one example. I loved them for a couple of years then couldn't eat them any more. Good luck. All my best, Mona padremickey.b

This week, I was able to fast on Wed, but not yesterday. Oh, well. I had only two meals so I'm good with that. On my eating days, I'm delaying my first meal until 10:00 as suggested by Ehret. Here's what Ehret says about morning eating. "As soon as stomach is free from food, the body starts the eliminating process of a fast; therefore encumbered people awake in the morning feeling miser

Sachelle, I LOVE kumquats!!!! I haven't had any in years. The neighbor behind us had a tree next to the fence where I grew up. We kids used to sit on the fence and pick them and eat them right off the tree. Like you said, they were divine. We did that with figs, too. My grandmother had fig tree in her back yard and we used to sit in it and eat figs until we were stuffed. My cousin and I were

Hey Sachelle, Great to have you back. Missed you. Today is a juice fast day. I'm doing well so far. I just drank carrot, cucumber, and red bell pepper juice. Yummy. I'm getting ready to go out to buy some oranges and grapefruit for juicing. I love the mix of the two. I haven't been online for a while and was surprised to see this thread still alive and well. Thank you, everyone for your replies and input. I managed to keep myself from giving into those cravings by doing several things. One was to delay eating the craved food. Delay, delay, delay. I just kept telling myself I could eat it later but will eat this fruit or salad right now. I also s

It's Ash Wednesday and today I am juice fasting. I'm still studying Ehert and find his work very interesting. The book is about transitioning to mono meals. He writes in "Mucusless-Diet Healing System," "The ideal menu for man is the 'mono-diet,' consisting of one kind of fruit in season and I must again remind you that no animal in freedom is a 'mixed eater' at one meal&

I am sooooo grateful and happy that I stayed raw and didn't cheat! YEAH!!!! The more I read Ehret's "Mucusless-Diet Healing System," the less interest I have in eating anything cooked. Also, taking it one day at a time and just postponing eating the craved food helped, too. Ehret writes that "Vitality equals Power minus Obstruction." Because I want vitality and health,

Hi Jody, The spring rolls are from a Chinese restaurant. I wish they were raw. There is a raw version in "The Complete Book of Raw," which I will try one day. I'm so grateful and happy that I didn't give in. I think talking about it, reading Erhart's book, and sticking to avoiding it even if that meant just for this moment worked. I'm not craving them anymore like I did. I feel b

Well, my big cravings are lessening. It seems like the worst part is over. I decided to deal with this one moment at a time. When I passed the Chinese restaurant, I told myself that I was going to be late if I stopped to get spring rolls. I'm ignoring any areas that have the smell and food that I'm craving. I'm still reading Ehret's books which I find inspirational to want to remain on the raw

Hi Vinny, I understand what you're saying. So far, I have been able to avoid eating what I've been craving and because I've given in in the past, I see me heading for a slippery slope back to eating lots of cooked food. For me, one falafel is too many and 100 are not enough. I'm sure your suggestion will be helpful to others who may find themselves in similar positions. Right now the cravi

Jody, thanks for the terrific suggestion. I can try that. Thanks, too, for your encouragement. I think getting through this without giving in will be in the best interest of my health. I also realize it's been ages since I've read anything on raw food. Sure I read this forum, but that's it. Usually when I read raw food books, I feel inspired and stick to the program easily. So I decided

Jo: Thanks for mentioning EFT. I'd used it years ago and haven't in a long time. I'll give it a try again. Good suggestion. Eaglefly and Theresa: I thought of giving in to the cravings very seriously. I've done that before and the last couple of times I did, I got so sick I didn't want to experience the illnesses again. The thought of the detox from giving in are stopping me, but the cr

I'm going through a strong cooked/fried food craving period and am fighting it tooth and nail. I find myself thinking about cheating and eating these kinds of food. I've even envisioned it thinking about how good it would taste. I've been a raw fooder for almost 6 years and I've given into these cravings in the past with consequences that I don't want to experience again. I know this, too

For some reason I'm going through a craving period. I want to eat lots of cooked, fried things right now. I'm ignoring these cravings but it's not always easy. What I'm trying to do is remember what happens when I break down and eat something fried or cooked otherwise: I feel AWFUL! I feel bloated, sluggish, sick, nauseous, my skin hurts and I can't sleep at night. Yes, my skin hurts when I

Where is everyone? This used to be an active forum. Hope everyone comes back. I was doing great being between 90-100% raw and then I went to a requiem yesterday. I fell off the wagon, back slid, relasped, and am suffering the consequences for it. So, I'm starting all over. Still have the plan to get rid of lots of fatty stuff in my house. I've started my personal Fat Tuesday kitchen clea

Thanks Trive, I was feeling really well, even dancing to some old hippy music from my youth and my husband's band. I got hungry and made the mistake of eating one of my favorite foods: sesame butter and banana. OH--MY--GOD! Bad combination!!! I think I'll swear off oils for a few more days. Jody, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis and the ill health of your mother. Sounds like you've gotten some really good advise so far. My goodness. Tuesday night I went to bed feeling fine, then all of a sudden I was a throw-uppy puppy. My whole body emptied itself. I thought I had food poisoning. However, I've been weak ever since. I slept all day Wednesday and rested yesterday; I could barely raise my head. I just drank sips of water and sugar cane juice on Wed. Yesterday I made a juicy smoothy with 2 bananas and 2 cups

Being a missionary and all, I tend to follow the liturgical calendar. Feast days of Christmas just ended Wed with Epiphany and it's time to get my mind off the feasting food and back into regular time. I have a plan for Lent and hope to carry it out, so am preparing myself mentally to take on my lenten discipline. Therefore, I'm making plans then going back to one day at a time in order to carr
