JoeSee, I agree with Cherimoya. I used to have a terrible time with constipation and went to a specialitst. The same instructions from the doctor but he also told me not to lean on fiber supplements since they make the digestive system's abilility to expel weaker. So, I continued my SAD ways and wondered why I bothered to go to the doctor at all. Then, I discover raw. I stopped eating

Hi Ian, Those chocolates look so delicious. Thanks for sharing your recipes. I will try it sometime in the future when I have more time. BTW I think a hazelnut paste in the center would be great. Or, how about white chocolate candies? Therese

How funny. I looked at all the hyperlinks to do as you suggested CC and finally came back to remark that I couldn't find it and I saw the post that the photo was gone. Ha Ha. The food looks delicious and if I ever make it to Sweden would love to try the food. Thanks for the suggestion. Therese

Hi Shy, I remember going through some of what you went through. Recalling extreme weakness, fatigue, major hair fall-out, yup. I was so weak that I only had enough energy to get up from the couch to eat a little, use the facilities, and move from the couch to the bed to sleep more. My heart was palpitating and I had no energy nor enthusiasm to even muster a smile. I saw that when I moved m

Jono, Thanks. So sad that I have to minimize the trips to Trader Joe's as they used to be my only source for nuts/seeds. They are a friendly bunch and I'm sorry to have to stop going there. The nuts on the link look very promising and reasonably priced. Thanks so much for the research and link. Therese

Hello, That's great that you have some equipment. When I started, I had only a knife and a cheese grater. I did the research and found that I had to slowly buy equipment as I prefer to spend my money once for something better rather than spend again and again for something cheaper. Sometimes this is to my advantage and some times not. The first thing I bought was a juicer. The next was a

I did the MC for 7 days on and 3 days off and another 7 on. I was like you, I couldn't stomach the though of any more lemonade or lemons for that matter. I believe they recommend a vegetable soup which is cooked. I think the apple, green juice, or green raw soup would help. I did a 10 day water fast about 3 mos ago that I ended with a raw apple. I think I could only eat half of it. Hope

Hi LR, I have on my list to buy a 9 tray excalibur from their website: I haven't purchased it yet. I am waiting until Dec or Jan. I did a lot of research and that is the one the many raw people use. From what I understand, Dr Gabriel Cousens speaks to dehydrating and addresses safe temperatures for raw food. Therese

Thanks CC, I will look into it. I gave up cooked pizza a few weeks ago (I know bad for my health but I was having difficulty with lack of calcium as my fingernails indicated) and was thinking that pizza would be forever banned from my raw diet. But, I'm torn as my body is craving more fruit if it would be advisable to re-institute any pizza back into my diet even if raw. I will check into t

Shoot! I thought Trader Joe's almonds were raw since they no longer had the "Pasturized" wording on the front. Glad to know that they are not. How sad. Like most everyone else here, I was getting my nuts/seeds from them, too. I suppose that their seeds are also pasturized even though labeled raw if the nuts are that way. Hmm, anyone know of a good, reasonably priced source of trul

Hi CC, Sorry that you feel so bad. I'm still transitioning but it was a bit surprising that when I didn't have any fruit in my packed lunch for work (I was out and didn't have time to go to the store), I really craved it. A friend gave me an organic pear out of the blue and when I ate it, I was very satisfied. I tried 100% raw vegan in the beginnning of Raw (2 yrs ago) but my body was detoxing

Hi CC, Love your pictures. I would join flickr but don't have a digital camera yet. Love taking pictures. I want to visit Switzerland. Wouldn't mind living there. I'm glad to know that if I go, I can still eat raw. Thanks! Do you have the recipe for that Italian Raw Pizza? That looks so good. Best regards, Therese

Hi Vivian, Your post is precious. Welcome! Buy what you can afford. If you can afford raw organic almonds, buy the ones with the skin on as they have not been as processed. Blanched means that they have been put into boiling water to get the peel off. Soak the almonds overnight in purified water. This is a post that someone else put up. The comments in parentheses are mine.: "

Did you try hydrogen peroxide? The colloidal silver was a good choice, too. When I had severe ear infections right after the other where fluid was in my ear, the only thing that helped after all the doctors/drugs was the hydrogen peroxide. I didn't know about colloidal silver at that time. You are right that the mucus plus is from detox. I was surprised when I removed a round mucus plug

Hello, I suggest that you decide to be happy and address the issues that are causing your to binge. Drugs typically just mask the problem rather than resolve the underlying issues. Be easy on yourself. IMHO, You sound like you're too tough on yourself and then lose control because you've been so restrictive. Accept and love yourself as you are. Change as your body indicates to you. E

Apples are apples. You can tell by smell, touch, and taste if the apple is ripe. I love Granny Smith apples. They are a green as can be. They are firm, sweet, tart, and sometimes sour. Depending on the kind of apple you have, that will determine if the apples really are green or they just are unripe. I imagine yours are green at maturity, too. If the flesh looks like a unripe apple, i.e.

Hello, The spittle test is great for testing for this. Do an online search and you will find how to do it if you don't already. He could try drinking 1 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar in a glasss of water for 15 days. I suggest buying the Cream of Tartar by the pound as the teeny containers at the store are very expensive. Repeat the spittle test. If he still has it, repeat the process. I

Christine, Not sure what vit/minerals you're buying but I suggest adding in Plantation Blackstrap Molasses. Although it's not raw, it has wonderful minerals in it to preserve your natural hair color. I used to love a Burger King Kids' Meal. But since going raw, I found that I get sick when I eat the meat/junk food. So, I stick to what my body tells me to do. Good luck. Therese

I cannot speak for store bought dates in a box. But generally dates are not dried. They come off the trees as one typically eats them, chewy & moist on the inside. If they are not chewy and moist they may be dried. I've seen the trail mixes with some cyclindrical date that were obviously dried but they aren't in their natural shape, either. In Phoenix, there are specific trees that are h

I did this in the beginning. I put the oven on warm. I often left it overnight. I did apple slices on first cookie sheets then a pizza stone. It works but it's not very efficient as there are only two shelves. You could also dehydrate in the refrigerator by leaving it in the fridge a long time. Another option is to dehyrate in the sun as in Essene bread. In the future, I plan on buying th

Luna, I agree with Marcos. I just received my 16 cup Proline Series food processor from KitchenAid. I was torn between the 12 cup wide-mouth and the 16 cup which was almost twice the cost. I found an online coupon for Cooking.com and it took another 15% off the price. It was still a big bite but it helped a bit. My logic was get the best & biggest with the most features/power that I

Casey, Peel the apples if you find a wax coating when you scrape your nail against the skin. Why don't you order your foods online? You could give money to your Dad to buy you the fruits/veggies that you want. Look for alternative ways to get the raw food that you need rather than looking at the obstacles. How come you can find something to eat at work but have nothing at home? Can you

Grow sprouts. The seeds are fairly inexpensive vs the volume you get. Have a 2-3 containers on hand so that you will always have enough. I tried the meal plan when I was in college. All I got was fat. Too much salt in the food, the fruits tasted like plastic, the salad was wilted to non-existent. Also, the food is recycled. When there are leftovers, they use it another day to concoct somet

Hi, It is called Almond milk. To make it, it takes about one cup of raw almonds soaked in water over night. You can peel the almonds after they are soaked or you can leave the peel on. I peel but it's work. Then take the cup of almonds and put them with about 2-3 cups of filtered water and blend in blender. Take a milk bag or cheese cloth/colander and pour the blended mixture through to a
