>The swine flu as the media and doctors define it, which is a strain of virus that mutated and transcended species is a bunch of nonsense (or magical thinking, as kwan might put it)< Haha! I guess I do use that phrase quite a bit, Bryan. ;-) Swimmer, glad you're on the mend.

>I just think it pays to remember that actions are only as effective as the faith behind them < That's SO TRUE! The faith and the motive behind them make all the difference. I totally agree.

LaV-- Let me amend what I said above. I also have a great deal of trouble getting into the spirit of helping friends who are not open to being helped; the kind of people who seem to actively run from any kind of positive steps to heal or help themselves. It's natural and instinctual to leave people to their own devices. One has a sense that the door is closed; maybe it's even slammed in our face.

LaV-- This comes to mind: personally helping someone with our own efforts is very different (and often very hard!) from helping someone by lifting them up in our consciousness and surrendering their situation to the Divine Healer within.

> I believe that their solution will be realised through the mysteries of divine connection, and that all we have to do peronsally is follow our own "right" path. So yeah.. meditate, accept, act and dream. I just think it pays to remember that actions are only as effective as the faith behind them < :-) We're actually on a very similar wavelength; we just express it from tw

>Thanks for posting this. I am thinking more and more, as I process the chats with random strangers that I have had on this day or that, how I am becoming a sort of Jonny Appleseed of Goodness. I just need to do this on a larger scale, I guess. Yeah, me too! My problem is I lack ambition in almost all its forms... LOL A woman after my own heart! ...and I value my anonymity, but the best wa

Reminds me of a comment about my raw food diet that was made not just once, but again several months later, by a friend of mine who doesn't quite get the concept. She praised me for eating raw, and then added (on both occasions): "I just knew there was a good reason I always want to eat the cake batter raw before I make a cake. It just makes sense!" (Groan.) On the positive side, everyb

Are you a Sacred Activist Quiz If you answer yes to two or more of these questions than you are being called on to become a sacred activist—what author Andrew Harvey defines as a humble and divine agent of change to birth a new world of compassion, peace, justice and harmony. * Do you have a burning desire to change the world or make a difference? * Is there a cause or issue that brea

>Do you think a person undergoing radiation treatment for cancer is in Heaven if they simply stop thinking and let go? Do you think that the mind's "Heaven on Earth" is separate from the body's "Heaven on Earth"?< I see this as a genuine and important question. One that's hard to answer, but needs to be answered and not glossed over.

>Are you saying this as a validation or evidence to support that you are not responcible for what is happening to you ? Tamukha also ?< Of course we're all to a small or large degree responsible. But we are little Davids and the system is a colossal Goliath. Sure, I can think of still more things I could do-- use the air conditioner a little less or live even more simply than I already d

Interesting musings, Lightform; good, good questions, Omega. I don't have unequivocal answers for myself yet; still open and asking, seeking the ultimate understanding. I'd love to believe that we are always 'in heaven' mentally and physically if we let go and simply become conscious of a perfect reality. I hestiate to share my consclusions; it's still an ongoing experiment that will occupy the r

Jodi, I'm so sorry! My dad has alzheimer's too, so I know in part... But it's so hard to stand by and watch the things that are done to people we love in hospital settings. I know there's nothing I can say to make it better, but just know that we love you and we're sending you and your family loving, healing thoughts.

Sigh. No, Lightform, there are 1,800 people (the corporations) and 5 little kids (the citizens) on the boat. Of the 5 little kids, 3 are already busy taking off their overcoats and backpacks and throwing them overboard to lighten the load. Of the 1,800 CORPulent people, almost none are willing to lighten their load whatsoever; in fact they're having quite a party, eating and drinking with aba

LaV-- Oh goody, you mean there's a Jobim tune I don't know yet? Haven't done Waters of March, probably because I couldn't find a backing track for it. Or maybe I couldn't find it in the Real Book. Will give it a listen! Yes, Meditation is one of my favorite Jobim tunes-- gorgeous.

> I think that it is a joint effort by everyone, not so much a corporations vs the people type of thing< I feel that those who have chosen the path of unchecked greed and power have created the lion's share of the problem. Tell me more about why you feel we are all equally responsible and it's a joint effort, which implies that we all want it. To be honest, Lightform, your view sounds

>P.S. you have the awesomest hair in those photos!< Thanks, Tamukha. I was kind of shocked; I didn't remember having long straight hair. I thought it was shorter and more choppy. It was kind of a shock also because I've been wearing my hair EXACTLY the same way for about 6 months, so that now I look like an older carbon copy of my younger self.

Vinny-- Thanks! We had a blast. We also had some tense moments and did some foolish things, and I even dabbled in psychedelic drugs for a few months, but somehow that's all forgotten and I can only remember the joy of creating with these guys! One of them is a gifted music professor now, and the other went on to become a patent attorney. Ironically, despite playing in a totally different genre no

OMG,my friend who sent me pictures from my past musical adventures has now sent me the videos to go with them, and they're posted on YouTube! I watched all 5 of them and laughed till I cried. I actually remember the music I played in 'Star Spangled Beanery.' We were a wild and crazy group, playing VERY outside, avant garde jazz, but we were really just innocent, sweet, open-minded kids having an

I shared the story of what happened after my cat Gopi died some time ago, and I'd like to find it to snip so I can send it to someone who loves animals. I've been searching for it, but can't find it. Anybody remember what thread it was in? I think someone was asking about proof for life after death.

LaV-- I love 'A Train.' Haven't learned 'Caravan' yet. Most of the time I play Jobim bossa novas, like Desafinado and How Insensitive-- beautiful Latin jazz ballads that work really well for the flute. Lightform-- How do I know when to stop fasting? I usually quit for one of these reasons: a) I lose interest, and then I know it probably wasn't the right time to do it in the first place... or

Vinny-- He's very unhappy. He says that he's in a rut and he's upset that he can't stop eating junk. (To his credit, he's trying to take some positive steps to chnage his habits, even though they're probably not the best for him.) He wants to continue playing music, but he's too anxious now to go into the subway and do it anymore -- hasn't played any music in about a year, which really bothers h

Hi Vinny-- Yes, I know of Ernest Holmes. Used to read his stuff back in the '80s and got the Science of Mind magazine. I like Mozumdar a lot better though, because he stressed that one should never live ostentatiously or acquire more than they need, which Holmes didn't. The history of Science of Mind is rife with a lot of very wealthy Hollywood personalities who seemed to subscribe heavily t
