Three or four times a week. I used to everyday (and sometimes twice a day) when I exercised everyday. But, every other day is enough for many people.

There's one in the recipe section of this site: I've never tried it. I can't imagine how it tastes like a donut. With the exception of the squash it looks pretty much like a coconut almond date roll.

This time of year oranges and other citrus are readily available and a good staple. You can juice the oranges and easily consume several hundred calories by drinking it straight or adding the juice to smoothies instead of water. Bananas are also quite high in calories and can be consumed straight or blended as a drink. Dates are also a favorite for their calorie content a handful can give

Yes, but that's not what I was asking. I had more luck with my search tonight than last night. It seems that histidine is in legumes and nuts, but we don't normally ingest beta-alanine as a free amino acid. We often get it from the breakdown of carnosine (not the other way around), balenine, and anserine which are found predominantly in animal sources.

I just watched Food Inc. It focuses on the meat and poultry industries (although there is some info on corn and soy) and is probably not very enlightening to savvy raw eaters, but it might be eye-opening to some of your friends or family. Different presentations of the same info appeal to different people.

Isn't L-carnosine a non-essential amino acid, meaning our bodies can synthesize it from other amino acids (in this case beta-analine and histidine)? So, why should we be concerned about getting enough? I always thought it was just the essential amino acids that we needed to be concerned about. On another note, didn't they both agree that there could be benefits to eating eggs, particularly t

Wow, where is anyone getting any organic food online that is reasonably priced? I wait for the sales at Whole Foods and then buy things I can by the case. The last case (72 ct) of organic oranges cost me $32.40. All the online places seem to be priced at $30/dozen.

I put cranberries sometimes in my smoothies in the late fall (around Thanksgiving) when fresh cranberries are easy to find. They work ok, taste good. The skin doesn't usually grind to a perfect smoothness the way banana or papaya or some softer fruits do though. I've never used fresh goji berries. They are in the nightshade family.

Well, the Daily Mail is about sensationalism....and, this is sensational. As far as commenting on this article, the book, the author, or the decision to give this nonsense press, words fail me.

I load liquid and fruit, then greens. If it gets stuck, which it usually doesn't, I turn it off, pick up the carafe and give it a a jiggle. Then try again. Using the tamper also works well, I'm just used to the other method.

Adam, I have the Vitamix CIA. The high button is like a 'turbo', not a pulse. The variable dial turns it up from 1 - 10. The high speed switch cranks it up even higher and stays on. You leave it on for several minutes when making 'raw' soups or you can crank it up for just a few seconds to aerate whipped creamy blends.

Coco, we don't do much container gardening, in part because we actually find it more difficult than regular gardening. The container-grown plants are more sensitive to water and temperature fluxuations. But, maybe the 2 bucket watering system takes care of some of that. But, we've been using those plastic 5-gallon sheetrock buckets for years. It's hard to escape plastic in gardening because

Horsea, that's possible, but I'm not so sure that the high drive for academic and material success, which definitely exists, isn't just in a limited portion of the population (although I am certainly no expert). The concept of reward through meditation, balance, nature, and spirituality is also very prevalent in Asian cultures.

Eskimo went out of fashion for a bit in the US for the same reasons as in Canada and elsewhere. I certainly was taught not to use it as a child. Inuit was the usual substitution, however, this was not really accurate as Eskimo was actually used to refer to several groups of indigenous peoples (as Mislu pointed out). Since calling all groups of indigenous northern peoples was just as identity str

Put them in a paper bag. The ethylene gas will concentrate and speed ripening. You can also try putting them in a paper bag with an avocado and it will go even faster.

We're planning on doing a remodel and considering geothermalheating/cooling. The Washington Post had an article with a favorable evaluation of the heating system after one year, but I wondered if anyone here had any experience with it. Any good or bad experiences? Any things to be aware of?

Yes, but does anyone pass those kinds of plaques without the aid of the cleanse formulations? You would think some people would anyway by way of natural detox or fasting or just getting healthier, but I've never heard about it. This makes me think that perhaps the cleanse products actually produce the plaques that the body at some point sloughs.

Ahh, so that's what does it. I've had a hard time with stringy mangoes for the past year or so. At first I thought it was the hot water treatment for aphids, but then I got a case that was perfect even though treated with hot water.
