It might be too late to plant pumpkins here but I might try some sunflowers just to see what happens and how much seed I can get. As far as the milk...yeah...I drink it daily. I also use it in banana ice cream and once in awhile a splash in my green fruit smoothie. Next year I am planning on trying to grow some melons vertically. I have several growing on the ground this year and they are

Very true...only thing is I would have to grow a LOT of sunflowers and pumpkins to supply a years worth of seed for milk...lol...I plan to use the sunflower milk to replace the much more expensive almond milk and maybe use almond milk on occasion as a treat.

Melatonin really works well for me too. I have not used it for a long time but when I would it really relaxed me and enabled me to get to sleep. I would take 3mg at a time. I suffer from restless sleeps and often have trouble falling to sleep. I have actually noticed since changing my diet I have had better sleep and easier time falling to sleep.

I will have to try pumpkin milk. I am not sure the source of the sunflower seeds. These are definitely raw...at least not roasted. I can't confirm that they are not pasteurized but I haven't read anything about sunflower seeds being treated like almonds. But if they are coming from overseas it wouldn't surprise me if something was done to them to help preserve them for their trip over here.

I have often wondered if I suffer from slight OCD. I notice that I have a few habits that I can't explain. The stepping on cracks has always been an issue with me but not all the time...only if I am walking down the sidewalk and start thinking about the cracks...then I can't step on them. A really weird one is when I am driving and it starts getting dark or raining or anytime when you should have

I made a spinach, banana, fresh picked strawberry (picked 3 gallons last night) smoothie this morning. I was in a hurry, otherwise I would have strained the spinach first then added the fruit, but I am glad I didn't...it was pretty good. Taste was great, it is the consistency I usually don't care much for in green smoothies. However with just spinach and it being a tender leafy green anyways, it

Not awful, not as good as almond milk though. I used 1c. soaked seeds, 4 soaked dates, and a tablespoon of vanilla blended with 3 c. of water. It wasn't quite sweet enough so I added some honey which helped but still had a watery taste. Next batch I am trying with 2c. water. So it seems to be a good substitute for almond milk for recipes but I am not sure I would like drinking much of it. I did f

West Virginia. I love it here but not the most raw friendly place. I dream of living someplace like CA for the food and year round growing.

I have never seen a board where politic/religion discussions ended well. I am not in to either so I rarely read either and post in them even less.

I do at least a 32oz glass of it a day...sometimes twice a day if I am not lazy. Second one is usually in the form of a green juice with a banana blended in to make it more of a smoothie. Makes a great meal replacement too, especially if left a little chunky so there is something to chew.

Just wondering if sunflower seeds or other nuts and seeds terrorized by the government like almonds are? A local market up the street has really cheap "raw" sunflower seeds and I wanted to get some as an alternative to the very expensive nuts. I also want to try sunflower milk. Anyone try this?

Great to hear yours has lasted so long. I have owned mine a few years but never used it until now. Only thing I use in it are greens, carrots, and fruit so the load is not that great so hopefully I can get a long time out of it as well. As far as smoothness...I mostly juice but the few smoothies I have made have been pretty darn smooth.

It has not come up yet in any of my conversations. Since I just started my healthier eating lifestyle most people I know don't even know and like most I don't plan to volunteer the info unless I really need to though I will talk about it if asked.

How about straining it in to a juice and adding back a smaller amount of the pulp and build up to it? I don't like green smoothies either so I just do juice. I do add a banana and/or avocado to my juice now and then to make it more of a smoothie but I usually remove the pulp first from the greens. I also eat a lot of salads using much of the same greens I juice so I am getting my fiber elsewhere.

I just started and I am using a Osterizer blender and it does a really good job. I am sure it won't last a very long time getting daily duty but I hope it lasts long enough. I am usually one that runs out and buys the higher end stuff just because I like quality and like to buy once rather than several times. I did that when I got in to mountain biking and don't regret a penny spent. My bike actu

I want to check more out on DW because I get the feeling that there is a lot of great info from him that just needs filtered. I think he may be a case of getting too big for his britches. He started with love and passion and great intentions and now that he has reached a guru status and is "famous" amongst the raw food crowd he is riding that status like a celebrity. Not saying that he

Funny to read this as I am just getting in to the raw food thing and just watched some DW talks for the first time the other day and while he is a great speaker, my first thought was that this guy is a fake or a sell out. I don't know if fake is a fair statement because from what little I have read I guess at some point he was huge in the raw food movement but it seems that lately perhaps now tha

Did some weeding today. Getting some blooms on the cukes, tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers though I am pinching those until the plants get bigger. Otherwise, not much going on.

Thanks la_veronique for your input. I would love a Greenstar but I think that the price ($200 more than the Omega) is prohibitive unless I find a used or refurbed unit. Actually, any juicer right now is out of the question as I just lost my job last week so it will be some time before I can consider any juicer.

I would love to have a yard that was nothing but garden. I look at it this way...I have a 3 almost 4 year old and another baby due in July. The yard provides my son and in time my daughter with a place to run and play and be active. So looking at it that way it is not a waste of resource. Now on the other hand if there are no kids to utilize the yard space then plant that sucker until you don't h

So what makes this juicer so much better than a $400 or $500 juicer? And are they only for wheatgrass or can they do other things too? Just asking out of curiosity. I can't even afford an Omega right now much less a $2000+ juicer.

I still don't see the problem. Fake iPhone? Who cares if you get the real iPhone if the "fake" one works just as good. I have an iPhone and personally I would trade it in a second for a Motorola Droid aka fake iPhone. If the current Vita-Mix is a quality piece of equipment and I think most would agree it is, and Omega copies the design, function, and performance, and charges less then t
