flash I based my determination as to whether or not to keep a particular blender based on the following criteria.. First, was it able to completely pulverize the tiny seeds of blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, & other similar seeds into the base mixture WITHOUT needing to add ice in order to keep the mixture below 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit..This in all likelihood has as much to do

As WY stated, the wattage, amperage, horse power ratings that are listed on the electric appliance only tell part of the story.. How the motor is constructed ie. the type of material that the windings are made from, the diameter of the wire windings, the grade of metal that the wire is made from, & the tightness of the windings all determine just how effective of an electromagnetic field t

brenna The advice that loeve & I gave you in our posts on the Living & Raw Foods forum are very good suggestions..Local nurseries, the state's Agricultural Extension Service, any local fruit farmers (regardless of whether they are organic or conventional), any organic fruit growing organizations--all these folks will have better local knowledge than the people here on these forums (unl

I use a Berkey stainless steel drip water filter that passes the water through 2 carbon cartridges that at the rate I am drinking water should last for 7-8 years..Provisions for adding 2 more carbon cartridges is built into the unit.. These filters are in use by the UN, various relief agencies, the military, etc..When real tough filtering jobs exist..With dirty water, it's necessary to pre- fi

The best time of year to plant trees is in the fall a month or so before the first frosts arrive..It's also the best time to plant even if there are no frosts in the area that you live.. Check with the Arizona State Agricultural Extension Service as they would have the best ideas for you to plant fruit trees, get them to survive the first year (usually the toughest period of time), & allow

I currently own a centrifugal juicer, the Breville Juice Fountain Elite..I seldom find myself using it..I originally purchased a Greenstar 3000, never used it, & returned it for a refund.. My experience with juicers is limited & I'm not the best person to ask for a recommendation.. That being said, I believe that both juices & smoothies have their place in the lexicon of foods f

If the recipe is calling for the nuts in it to be homogenized, then the recipe's author wants you to run the nuts through a twin-screw juicer several times (3-4 usually) with the homogenizing plates installed..The homogenizing plates are also known as the smooth plates.. The resultant mixture is known as a nut butter, & will have a consistency very similar to commercial nut butters..Using

Soaking nuts for the recommended times for making nut milks will allow the nuts to much more easily be processed into a butter in a food processor..The resultant nut butter WILL taste slightly different from one made w/o soaking the nuts..The nut butter made with soaked nuts in a food processor will still NOT be as smooth as the ones made in a twin-screw juicer with the homogenizing plates instal

The short answer is NO.. A blender & a juicer are two entirely different tools with juicers falling into different classes where the different types of juicers perform quite differently from one another.. A quality kitchen appliance should last for decades if not abused..A single expensive appliance will cost less per day of ownership than will several less expensive ones that wear out

I do not believe that human beings were intended to live in cold climates..All evolutionary evidence points to & supports the archaeological evidence that we evolved in the tropics..Humans are not equipped physically to survive long exposures to cold weather without warm clothing & or fire.. When we lived in trees we were primarily fruit-eating herbivores..It is my belief during this p

la veronique You are correct in that we humans have the capacity to heal the damage that we have done to the planet.. What I find unfortunate about us as a species is that we always seem willing to embrace the newest technologies without considering the possible drawbacks of that technology..These technologies are always touted as improving our lives by virtue of making them easier.. And

The homogenizing plates of a twin-screw juicer will make nut butters without needing to add additional oil.. Food processors & blenders require oil so as to allow the mixture to move around in order to achieve a relatively smooth consistency.. Commercial butters are made by squeezing the nuts through huge rollers that are brought further & further together as the mixture breaks down

When people talk off-the-cuff about how blender companies are always over pricing the goods that they sell & are ripping off the consumer so that they can make an obscene profit it makes me angry..Some companies do treat their customers this way, but they are the exception, not the rule..Vita-Mix IS NOT one of the rip-off companies..And it is irresponsible to imply that they are.. There are several lines in the movie "The Matrix" where Agent Smith is interrogating Morpheus..The line that stands out for me is when he asks Morpheus if he knows what species of life on the planet that humans most resemble..And his answer is that we resemble viruses more than any other species due to the fact that we procreate & multiply our numbers with no restrictions until we o

Not to get too far off topic, but it's a little known fact that all soils contain E.Coli bacteria, salmonella bacteria, & other organisms that are potentially harmful to humans.. Plants grown in nutrient rich healthy soils that have a high humus content have almost no possibility of transferring these diseases to humans.. A healthy human with a strong immune system could in all likeliho

simpleliving As to your sixth question regarding the depletion of nutrients in the soil & the resultant nutrient content of the foods grown in those soils, Bryan is correct in that the generous application of various types of rock powders (greensand, granite dust, ground feldspar, Azomite, & others) along with equally generous applications of properly made compost will resurrect virtua

There have been no long term scientific studies done on humans to determine the exact effects o
