Tired of the same ole salad dressings? I've been making my same favorite dressing over and over and wanted a change. Then I remembered this list that Jodi put together. What a treasure trove!

One of the funniest books I've ever read is "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson. I highly recommend it for anyone, but especially anyone thinking of hiking the Appalachian trail. Happy trails, Vinny!

Public confessions. Good for the soul, I suppose. I am not brave enough for a full confession here, but suffice to say it's more than a coffee and steamed veggie here and there. Even though I no longer strive to be 100% raw food, I do my best.

Coco, I must be really thick, but I have no idea what the legos represent on the facebook page. Is this a conspiracy by all of the people who liked it to make me feel uncool? As to the vimeo.com, I enjoyed it and wish it had been longer.

When I was young we often had mixed nuts on our coffee table with a cracker. I don't see them in packs like that now. As a comment on freshness, I recently I got some shelled almonds that were the freshest I've ever had. They were moist and very tasty. Fresh pecans taste sweet to me. It's frustrating to get rancid nuts.

"Any questions?" asks the girl. Yes, I can think of a long list of questions begining with "Why in the world would anyone involve a young child in such a horrendous video depicting gross animal cruelty?" Regardless of the specific political content of this video, I think it is disrespectful to children to USE them to voice the political opinions of adults as though

I'm curious. Do you eat nuts? What kinds? How much? How often? Are you going for specific nutrients? Or do you just like them? If you avoid them is it because of calories or what?

Hi, Ivi rose, We're all doing our best to find our way. It sounds like you're in a good point on your life path right now. Like you, I have recently rejoined the conversation here. It's good to have the support of kind, like-minded people. Remember to be kind to yourself. (For me that means not getting hung up on what percentage raw food I have each day.) Best wishes for continue

Rab, You mention that you've tried to explain your diet to her many times without success. I'm guessing that she is not an attentive listener. Sometimes an effective strategy with people who can't (or won't?) listen is to listen to them. When she asks, "Why do you punish yourself?" you can parrot that back and say, "It looks to you like I'm punishing myself," and lis

My first reaction was to recoil at being assaulted with the images and music. Then I thought about the people in it. Those aren't just images - - the photos represent real people, many of whom are out of touch with their genuine selves. They may be suffering and in pain or just be painfully unaware. Maybe they have been so beaten up by life that they have given up and quit caring. Somehow

Awwww, pborst, how lovely to see your comment. Thank you for those kind words. I'm still around - just trying to find my way. Being almost 100% raw worked for me for a long time (over a year) - fantastically well, in fact. I got into raw food because of health concerns (serious acid reflux) and now I don't have that health concern at all. Several doctors had told me I would be on pr

Keep lots of raw foods you like around so you are full and not lured to eat by junk food, since that has been a your go-to food temptation. And if you find it too hard to stay 100% raw, remember that many people ease into it gradually and many others choose not to be 100% raw food. Best wishes finding what works for you.

Coco, the crotch thing happens mostly in larger urban areas in the U.S. where those (fortunatley few) men think they'll remain anonymous, which wouldn't be the case in smaller towns or rural areas where people know each other. Glad you haven't had to put up with it. Being back in the US, I also notice/find the Ma'am and Sir thing bothersome. People are trying to be polite, but I prefer waitp

SPITTING - Anyone spitting on the sidewalk - Spitting in a cup from chewing tobacco while having a conversation (I had a boss who did this while talking with me!) Men who touch their crotch when they first see a woman in public who is a stranger (Yes, there really are men who do this. It has happened to me MANY times and there is no way that I have solicited that behavior. I consider it crude

It's not so much that I am bothered that people spell words incorrectly. The irksome thing is how the different meaning of the incorrectly spelled word throws me off. I see "you're" and I think "you are," so when someone writes "your," but means "you are," I lose my train of thought. Here's a poem that takes a while to decode: Candidate for a Pullet

Manuka is a native plant that grows wild on my farm in New Zealand. It is a bush with loys of small white flowers that bees love. To me, manuka honey has a slightly smoky flavor and is not good as a sweetener in tea because its flavor is too strong for subtle teas.

There's good news and bad news. The good news - - I don't have acid reflux problems any more. I don't really know why but when I eat or drink things that definitely triggered it in the past, now they don't. I credit the year I ate almost 100% raw for that. The bad news - - There are some things about life (now and for the next few years) that are very stressful for me. Consequently, I ha

Quite the prehistoric cricket, eh? Yes, banana who, I saw a weta in a cave when I was with a hiking group, but that is the only one I ever saw in over 10 years in NZ. Thank goodness! I wouldn't care to see them very often. And Tamukha, Weta Workshop is a Kiwi company and that insect is their company logo or mascot, perhaps?!!

My washer operates very quietly until... when it finishes spinning, it makes a series of sounds like the landing of an alien spaceship. I should record it and sell it to a Si-Fi screenwriter. Surely there is the potential for big bucks there!
