More Q's: What does being active have to do with getting enough protein w/out greens? (I have a green smoothie and a salad each day, but I'd like to know anyway.) Claire and Veggiefreak, where's the other 80/10/10 forum you're talking about? Where can I find this blog forum?

Veggiefreak, I loved your post. All this has been great info. since I have to wait so long for my book. Anyway, wanted to share the yummy gazpacho I made yesterday: Blended: 1 cucumber 2 tomatoes a pinch sea salt a garlic clove (don't know if garlic is supposed to be a part of 80/10/10, but until I read a VERY good reason why not, I'm sticking with it) Diced and thrown in: 1 tomato 1

Great to know, Arugula. Okay, one more question (I think). People are mentioning veggies. Don't I not have to eat my veggies on this diet? It's not just fruit, fat and protein?

Thanks Guys. I just ordered the book--you're right, it's back in stock @ Amazon. Any more insights are welcome, as I won't get the book for a month at least.

Thanks, Arugula. Okay, I just did the Fitday thing, and I guess I'm finding that coconut's not such a great idea, since it's hard to find protein w/out fat, but easy to find fat w/out protein--coconut being my case in point. Could I get a sampling of what I should eat for protein and fat then?

I just got on the diet, but I don't have the book. (I'm in a foreign country and don't have access to it right now.) I'm going on very little information, but still, I'm convinced because it's working for me. Someone said 10 almonds or 1/3 an avocado is good for the day. Can you tell me how much coconut is good for a day?

It IS true, but if you feel you need substitutions for things on the list, you might consider not eating live foods exclusively until you're ready. That is to say, give yourself a few years of eating conventional raw cuisine to wean off of SAD tastes. When you hold the intention of eating living foods, your body will reject dead foods over time. The intention heightens awareness of your body's

Hi Cheerleader, My favorite author (and the one who got me into cooked food with her winning workshop) is Victoria Boutenko. She just updated her book, _12 Steps to Raw Foods: How to End Your Dependency on Cooked Food_ (Paperback - May 8, 2007), and not long ago, she wrote a newer book, _Green for Life_ (Paperback - Oct 20, 2005) For really yummy recipes, I recommend _Raw Food Real World_

Hi Bracken, Check this out: If you have any problems, try cutting back on the greens and then working up to the big bunch over a time that seems comfortable. Having one or two of these a day will ensure that you're getting what you need in the way your body needs it (well "chewed", while you're figuring out how you want to eat. It'll make everything else you eat just extra. A

Hi Kelly, How about green smoothies? I'm just getting into them, so it's still honeymoon time for me, but from what you write (wanting to stay local, needing something filling, wondering about raw dairy (I imagine for the calcium), green smoothies sound like your perfect food. Here's Victoria Boutenko's discussing them: She also wrote a whole book about them called _Green for Life_, which

Guess what?! I went to the dentist and found out I have a lot of little tiny cavities!! Thanks to Victoria Boutenko, now I will try to drink 2 quarts of green smoothies a day. Yikes! (No, I haven't been taking calcium, and no, I haven't been drinking green drinks every morning--often just a small salad in a day, so yes, I had this coming.)

Victoria has a special place in my heart because she's the one who got me to go raw. Lightform, I agree with your list wholeheartedly. Dorit got me thinking, though. I'm going to start thanking my food.

Well said, Fresh and Dewey. Beautifully stated posts, the both of you. Howellbe, On supplements: the only supplement anyone needs on a diet of plants are Vitamin B12 (unless you don't mind eating insects, which is how our vegan-raw ancestors probably got it). This can be in drop form so it has no other ingredients (like yummy cherry flavoring) other than B12 and water. If you get no sun

Prism, I looked and looked and I can't find you anywhere. In the famed words of the Teletubbies, "Again! Again!" Mama Cass, your photos are beautiful. Islandgirl, you and your daughter are lovely. Patty, I hadn't seen the one with you w/out sunglasses--good one! (I mean the one where you can see your face.) Everyone looks so great! I love being raw, too, Mocha!

Yay! I am thrilled that it worked out. I tried the lasagna today. It was really good, but the pine nut ricotta was a bit rich, so I got a bit tired of it before I was finished. The pesto is out of this world, though. I took a picture of it. Unlike the sushi, eating this doesn't feel just like eating lasagna, I think because it's not warm. It's very similar, though. The zucchini does

Hey Selene, I just want you to know, I have a good feeling about you. I think you're going to make it. Peace Pilgrim said, "The body, mind and emotions are instruments which can be used by either the self-centered nature or the God-centered nature. The self-centered nature uses these instruments, yet it is never fully able to control them, so there is a constant struggle. They

Thanks, guys. And thank you Islandgirl, but I'm not quite as young as I look. Still, I'm under 40, so everyone I hang out with calls me a baby anyway. It's exacerbating--no matter how old I get, I'll never catch up with them! I know, I know, be careful what you wish for...
