Date: March 28, 2007 10:02PM Day 14 (28 March):
Watermelon, grapes, bananas, mixed greens salad with orange juice and tahini dressing. Fat intake: overt fats - 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of tahini. Observations: Bad breath this morning is another indication that I am cleansing from some old stuff. My body fat seems to be going down, it's hard to tell, because if there is a difference, it is minimal at this stage. I decided to take a photo of my body today, just in case, so that I can compare the difference in the future. But, I did not have time to do it!!! Perhaps on the weekend. When I eat the honey tangerines, which are relatively non-acidic for tangerine/citrus, I seem to have no problems if I eat a sweet fruit afterwards. With the food combining, eating the juicier foods first seems more important than the sweet/acidic issue. However, if I ate enough citrus where I feel them still in my belly, I wait 15 to 30 minutes for the citrus to digest. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/29/2007 12:09AM by Bryan. I lost 10 lbs in 2 months, then I stopped weighing myself but I'm pretty sure I've lost more since then because my clothes are getting even looser. 10 lbs is a lot on me 'cos I'm very petite, but I did need to lose it and more! I do blog and post pics about my progress on my blog (in my signature) if you're interested. Food: Breakfast: None Lunch: 5.5 large bananas Dinner: 2/3rds large watermelon (I looked 4 months preggo afterwards, hehe) and later, a salad of 4 oz romaine, 1/2 cucumber, 1 oz pine nuts and about 1 pint grape tomatoes. A much smaller salad than I usually eat - that watermelon sent happy sugar signals to my brain and told my body I was pretty satisfied and definitely had enough carbs today! The pine nuts was totally an emotional thing - so I decided to have some but not too many 'cos of how bad I feel when I eat too many of them. Thanks, Bryan. I'll have to try out a tangerine/date meal and see how it goes. I have been playing around more with noticing the feelings of "food in belly" and "food past belly". For me at this time it seems like those feelings are "clearer" with juicy fruit than with something like bananas or dates. I'm really grateful that I have come to a stage in my journey where I have begun to focus less on "the rules" of raw, and more on tuning into my own body. Edited 1 time(s). Date: March 29, 2007 07:16PM I would post what I'm eating, but I'm doing a short fast.
I am interested in how many posting here, live in warm, or even tropical climates. I live in New Jersey and have started tomato seedlings for my organic garden, but the garden season feels short, the grapes in the stores are all from chile ( & sprayed with who knows what), although we do get nice large papaya in the stores now, ....and so I dream of moving, somewhere warmer with more varieties of cheaper fruits. We've been looking at New Mexico--but although much sunnier; due to the altitude in the northern part the winters frequently freeze the Spring flower blosums in the orchards. I am grateful to be able to have a garden, live near good food stores, and be in a temperate climate, but would love to live be where the plants get more sun and the area is more rural and I can grow grapes and melons. Date: March 29, 2007 10:19PM gosia,
i think we are the same wt 49kgs (108 lbs) my ht is 5'6. i also have bodyfat to shed even though i am not really aiming to lose wt. i believe toxins are stored in fat cells. in the past i've been able to shed the fat through fasting, but haven't found -10% fat in diet AS helpful. even though i spend a fair amount of time actually moving (yoga, biking and dogwalking) it is evidently to yin in nature to burn the excess. what is your experience? did you take the "before" photos yet. i find this to be a fascinating aspect of this research trial. do you think age and hormones may have any contribution? i am 51 and well into femopause, yet i hesitate to give that much power...at least i sure dont FEEL 51 anyway. fruitgirl Re: High-fruit low-fat research trial!!!

Date: March 30, 2007 12:54AM 11:00: 2 red delicious apples, 4 bananas, .75 lbs dates, 8 celery ribs
5:00: Juice: 1 bunch dandelion, ½ bunch spinach (stalks), 4 carrots, 2 romaine stubs 6:45: 14 honey tangerines, let it sit for a bit, 2 tomatoes, 1 romaine heart, some green leaf, .5 lbs sun-dried tomatoes. This became somewhat of a digestive experiment after I had most of the package. Been smashing most days so haven’t reported much. Today I consumed the most dried fruit and was the least active. Felt totally spaced at work after the dates then sleepy. Was also very much looking for a non-existent avo after the salad I think, even though there is no doubt my needs were satisfied caloricly, went a bit over in fat yesterday 12% but don’t suspect that either. I think sometimes too much sugar (esp from dried fruit) is simply too much. Date: March 30, 2007 12:56AM Fruigirl! I haven't taken the before photo yet. I am going to do this weekend, so it won't be quite before in relation to the trial, but it will be before in the sense of losing excess fat (IF this is going to happen he he).
I've been finding this excess fat thing a bit intriguing. I look at people like Nora Lenz (from rawschool.com, who is 40+ so I do not think age matters), for example, who has been on a low-fat diet for a while and does not seem to have excess fat on her. So my expectation is that on a low-fat diet, one eventually will lose that excess fat. Since I have not lost all my excess fat yet, I came to a conclusion that perhaps, even though I have had low-fat periods, due to my higher-in-fat periods, perhaps my average fat intake has not been that low. Since I started monitoring my fat intake (in this trial), I will be able to tell exactly. I too believe that toxins are stored in fat cells, and so the loss of that excess fat is important to me, because I want to detox completely. Interestingly, my recent observations suggest that I may be getting rid of some old stuff. So, maybe my excess fat should reduce. Time will tell. Must take the photos, must take the photos. My height is 162cm, I am 43 years old (in my photo I am 40). Gosia RawGosia channel RawGosia streams Re: High-fruit low-fat research trial!!!

Date: March 30, 2007 01:20AM 4 oz sun-dried tomatoes: Cost $2.00
289 calories 16 g protein 10% fat 100% sodium (?/ depending on regular intake) not the best omega ratio (1200/12 !) but beats any protein bar, lara bar or any kind of dehydrated cracker any day I’d say, if one consumes such things. This is actually the first time I have had them in years and they are good. not to be tempting… Re: High-fruit low-fat research trial!!!

breakfast : 1 mango noon : big plate of raw veggies ( cucumber, zucchinis, bell pepper, celery) with tahini dressing diner : 2 bananas, 3 mangoes, a cup raisins, half cup walnut ( well, way too much... I should have taken something better for me but, you know, laziness...) thanks to all those who shared ( re : weight), it is not the same road to go depends where we start so it is nice to know how we can relate to others... Some want to lose, others to maintain ,or gain weight. I admit I'm afraid of losing to much, that's probably why I was asking in the first place. Thank you anyway.
