Hello, I have been looking into getting a dehydrator but am concerned about the plastic parts of them. The Good 4 U/VegiKiln/Dehdra (all the same machine just different names I found out) have plastic #6 and the excalibur has plastic #5. It looks like #5 is better for you then the #6. I really want one of these machines but dont want to screw up all the healthy things I am doing with leaching pla

Hi we are thinking of getting a dehydrator and was told to check these two out. Has anyone ever used one of these? How do they compare to the Excalibur? I am worried about the BPA is it an issue with any of these? Do you all think the dehydrator in general is a good purchase? We are just starting to dabble with the raw food arena so it caught our attention. Thanks

Wow, thanks John for the detailed reply. It was very much appreciated. I ended up purchasing the Hurricane I think it is called from wheatgrasskits. It was $109 but it has a $60 trade in so I figure I cant go wrong if I become a wheatgrass junkie then I can upgrade without being out to much. Thanks again

I was looking at the omega 8003 and it seemed the chute was very small. Is it like this on all of the omega's? We are new at this so I am not sure but it seemed slow, I am gathering this is a good thing from some of the reviews? We are looking for it for mostly wheat grass as we really like to use the vita mix for our daily drinking greens. We are also considering a manual wheatgrass machine. Any

Hi, we would like to purchase a machine for wheatgrass. We are currently going to the store to get our daily shot and that is time consuiming and costly. We have a breville juicer and a vita mix but these wont do the wheatgrass. We are trying to keep our costs down but not sure what to get. My husband is concerned that the Omega 8300 is a multi use juicer so it might not be as good as a dedicated

Hi, we would like to purchase a wheatgrass machine but are not sure about the investment. We just started drinking it at the local juice bar but that can get pricey as well. Are there any manual machines anyone would recommend that we could use while we are making sure we like doing it and will continue drinking it? If this is not a good option is there a lower priced machine that would be a good

Hello, I know I have read that you can get enough protein from greens but I am trying to find some solid scientifc evidence. Does anyone have a good article on how much protein you can get out of the raw lifestyle. My husband and I are playing around with some recipes and it seems we are use to things having a nutritional breakdown but most raw recipes do not. I am sure they are very healthy but

Thanks for the advice. I will see if we can get some of the seeds of the clippings and maybe pluck a clipping in the ground to see what happens. Can't hurt huh! I was so surprised at how awesome it tasted and how great the research says it is for you. Have a great day.

No I meant juicer. We do have a vita mix blender but was not planning on using the bag for that. We make green smoothies with our vita mix and were hoping to also juice with o ur breville as well. I was told it is a good idea to use the nutmilk bag for juicing as the nutrients get into the body quicker without all the fiber. Is this incorrect? I am curious what other people think. We plan to juic

Thanks for some ideas, I never thought of just drinking them with plain water. They are sticky little critters. The other day I accidently spilled some on the counter and I am still trying to get them up :-)

Tamukha, Thanks I will for sure let you know how it works. We had it in our salad today and it was great. I am having trouble finding a place to purchase it though. Since it is a hardy little weed I might just replant some of the stuff I got at farmers market today.

Hi, I am new to this lifestyle and have heard a lot about this machine. Would somebody mind telling me exactly what they are used for? They sound very interesting. I remember them from the old days but all I can remember them being used for was fruit. Thanks for your help.

I do use my vita mix as a fp but they dont always come out as uniform as I would like. It does not puree things as you can control the settings. It does a good enough job that I never have to use a fp. I chop onions, zuchini, bell peppers are a little hard though

Hi, we recently purchased some chia seeds and I am not sure what to do with them :-) From what little I know about them it seems we can use them the same way as flax seeds but I am not sure. Does anyone use them in their green smoothies? Thanks

Hi, check out the other links on this page for the vita mix. They have a lot of great info. I LOVE my machine, its warranty (I bought it at costco so I got 7 yrs) and there customer service is top notch. The vita mix is a staple in our house and it gets used 2-4 times a day and works like a charm.

I recently had the same problem and vita mix sent one out in a jiffy. Theyhave awesome customer service. The vita mix 5000 (which is the one I have) isnt BPA free but you can upgrade the jar for $35 and they did say that the plastic is a super strong grade and if you never heat the jar up like in soup you are more than fine. I still might upgrade the jar anyway since mine after daily use is look

Hi, can anyone give me some ideas on how to use Chia seeds or Maca Powder? I just picked up some organic whole seeds and powder from Henry's and I am not sure how to use them. I am thinking of putting them in smoothies. Thanks Judy
