It seems lots of people find the transition to raw much easier if they do several cleanses as they go. This helped me and now I'm doing more since I've been having strong cravings for certain foods. Liver, kidney and colon cleanses can be done inexpensively and at home. There are lots of sites detailing them, plus testimonials...curezone, rawfoodtalk.com, etc. Enemas are supposed to help wi

Don't worry too much about deviating from raw - it's a great reminder of how cooked food treats us. I'm having similar problems with my diet. I remember how Karen used enemas to help with her cravings, so am starting to do them plus a colon cleanse, etc. This winter is harder to bear than the last one, which is when I went raw..... I guess I was motivated despite the cold. And it's actually

Thanks LikeitorNot - I think you're right, that she must have a hormonal imbalance or something, but she thinks it was passed down from her father, and who knows, maybe she's right. Funny about the coconut oil - I won't suggest it!

Update and good news: The hampster gradually lost the strong odor, then redeveloped it just before losing the use of a hind leg - the muscles atrophied too. Now, after a month of dragging the atrophied leg around, s/he's starting to use it again and is redeveloping the muscles, as well! All this from just over 2 months of living in a less-toxic home and being feed raw parsley stems and v

I don't think people necessarily need supplements. I still take two that are specific to my health problems, but wouldn't need them if I had switched to raw before developing the diseases. I plan to discontinue them as soon as my diseases heal up. Only take supplements if necessary. They are second-rate substitutes for healthy foods and practices. Don't succumb to they hype in advertising.

That's wonderful! I would like to go any time of the year, but of course would love December, January, February (party!) the best. How long is the whole trip for you, from the time you leave your airport to the time you arrive at your mother's house (approximately)? I think it takes a long time, like 2 days, right?

Does anyone know of a natural 'antiperspirant' to use temporarily while transitioning to raw? A friend is transitioning but has always been a heavy sweater and I can't convince her to go without, since she feels uncomfortable working in an office and in other social situations, with damp underarms. Her antiperspirant is heavily chemically-scented and nearly knocks me out when I'm around her

Wow, I'm truly impressed with his sister! That's a very nice gesture on her part. My own mother stopped inviting me for all family dinners when I went vegetarian with my children - when I complained at being left out, she said she wouldn't know what to make. I said that I would only eat the veggies she made, or bring our own food, but that didn't make sense to her.It made sense to just never inv

Hy Cy, maybe you could post a comment or sign up for the updates and include a comment with your email address? I exchanged a few private messages with her. I would like to meet her when I go to Brasil since there are so few there crudivores there and I am very interested in environmental issues, as she is. Maybe I will post a comment asking for some kind of contact info, as well - I could

Do you use any chemically scented products in the house - like Tide, and all the other 'normal' detergents, fabric softeners, downy, bounce dryer sheets, febreze, air fresheners, glade, plug-ins, air sprays, strong antiperspirants, deodorants, perfume, carpet spray or powder, PineSol, Tilex, scented dishwashing detergents, especially if they're not well-rinsed, etc etc?? They are all toxic to

Acne is supposed to be from a clogged liver. There are liver cleanses with apple juice for several days, followed by an olive oil, lemon or grapefruit juice and epsom salt procudure. Lots of people have done it and think highly of it. Try curezone for acne results from the liver cleanse. Maybe you'll find some feedback about it! I know two people who are going to try to improve their skin this

Here's what's in the raw dog food that my dog does so well on: (amounts unknown) 75% groun beef, liver, heart, human-grade bone dust 25% romaine, bok choy, broccoli, carrot, yam, celery, apple, cantaloupe, kale, alfalfa sprouts, kelp, salmon oil, parsley, bee pollen, garlic I'm not convinced the bee pollen, garlic or fruits are helpful - maybe they are added to contribute certain nutrient

I don't think Lara bars are truly all raw, so I think that's why I found them too harsh and why they might cause cravings.

Some people are just more sensitive to odors so if you are one of them, I sympathise. Inhaling cooked food odors can make some people feel very heavy and clogged, almost like eating it would, but I think this becomes less problem as the raw diet cleanses and strengthens us.

Lots of people find their scale going the opposite direction to what they'd like when they first go raw - skinny people lose weight and heavier people gain some. I think this is just part of transitioning. In my experience: Lose the fermented and salty foods. Don't be strict if you crave them, just don't add them unless you do. Add a lot more greens - parsley has been great for me and I

I think those juice-type cleanses were invented so people could go on with their daily activities while giving their systems a respite from regular digestion. Some people can perform normally while on juice cleanses/flushes, but not me.

Hi karriebean, you're doing great! I can relate to some of yours and itchy's posts, and being aware of these abuse/control probs helps quite a bit. Having caring people witness and understand just who the crazy people are helps a lot too, which is what many of us did NOT have growing up. Hugs!

Hi David, sounds like you're doing great. For me, the caffeine is less problem than coffee - my body hates coffee, but for now I still drink caffeinated things - green tea chai or erva mate. I just want to say that several years ago I went raw on a similar diet to yours and crashed terribly after about a year and only came back to raw (Natural Hygiene-style) about a year ago. The rejuvelac and

I hope your fast goes really well. You might like to check out other people's exeriences with cleanses and detox, too - it's helped me so much . Hugs!

Yes, I feel I've been contaminated too... slimed! - that's funny! It smells for hours or days afterward. I am wondering when people will bring class action suits against the manufacturers of such products, since they cause or exacerbate many health problems. I feel pity for people who look so proud of their new perfume - they don't realize they just got suckered into purchasing a product wh
