Different nuts require different soak times... you'll just have to experiment. 4-6 hours is a rule of thumb for me, but if I forget them and leave them overnight it's not a huge deal. If they start to ferment, blend them up with some water, probiotics, and leave in an open dish on your counter for two days. Then add salt and herbs... NUT CHEESE! YUM!

But what about the wheatgrass? :O I dumped mine about eight years ago. That noisy, crusty dehydrator of mine? It's totally worth the wait. <3

The credible cases of temporary breatharians are the ones I find interesting, experiencing inedia as a SIDE EFFECT of an explosive spiritual experience (note, it does not last forever). I think there is a degree of being seriously misguided when you miss the cause and strive for the side effects... so to speak. IMHO, it's like other kinds of strange spontaneous healing, those moments under str

I've been doing the salt water trick, but it's time to bust out the big guns! I went to the health food store, and they had the Mediterranean strain (oregano minutiflora), wildcrafted, locally grown, the really good stuff... on a CRAZY SALE price! And the swelling in my mouth is down about half already. O.O I totally recommend anyone interested in oil of oregano to go the extra mile and ge

Apparently, it is oregano composticum, and I have thymus capsicum, which lacks most of the medicinal qualities?? Does anyone know more about this?? I made the mistake of buying a cheap toothbrush, really roughed up my gums, and think I have a mild infection in the mouth. I've also read conflicting information that thymol is the most potent/or most dangerous compound in the "true&q

It is a horrifying attack on free speech. Heck, most of the ads that target me on Facebook would also become illegal. And nevermind... the nonsense component. =\ Freedom to choose what we put into our bodies, freedom to self-educate.... Of course, I'll be eating my tasty plants and maintain my merry way, but I think it's important to be aware of what's happening around us.

Steamed broccoli loses 11% of antioxidants. Microwaved broccoli loses 97% of antioxidants. I'm intuitively envisioning something like an exponential curve that illustrates the further we steer from nature, the worse our suffering may become.

Here were some of the articles on Natural News... Matt Bokos is apparently the owner of Adya Clarity... not sure of his affiliations. Raw Food World was the primary distributor.

Have you followed the Natural News investigations about this? Adya Clarity is imported as BATTERY ACID, plain and simple. It's disgusting. I was even duped into drinking that stuff. Matt Monarch manned up and dealt with the situation honorably. Nobody is perfect, we all have to be vigilant about what is for sale out there. Figures the same bunch of dirty scammers would come after him for o

I find that my caloric needs from entering the luteal phase to post-menstruation are double. But I don't count calories... I just feel and listen. Going raw allowed me to really get in tune with my body and discern what "full" actually feels like. Likewise, if I'm craving a certain food (read: nutrient spectrum), I just go wild and go with it until my body seems to have had enough.

Can't stress the organic corn enough. BT toxin in GMO corn (read: all corn that is not organic) has been found to cause major organ damage/failure in lab animals. It can also make your own stomach start producing pesticides, too (NO joke!). Not to sound scary... just to please, please, urge you from the bottom of my heart to eat organic corn, for your own sake. I wish I could get some purple c

I heard through the rumor mill that at my latitude, it is impossible to get the correct spectrum of rays to produce my own vitamin D four months out of the year. I still go outside. There is always prana! >8) Dr. Mercola has so many awesome articles about sun. Apparently the best way to get acclimated is to go out in the spring, 15-20 minutes TOPS, never between 11-2, and to build with c

Ayn Rand? Nietzsche? (Neither of which I particularly enjoy!) Sometimes, though, seeing powerful fiction at a young age plants a seed for a deeper understanding at a later date. But, hopefully sooner than later.

That's horrible, Cafe Gratitude had the most AMAZING raw dessert books. It's not hard to sub out the agave for liquid coconut nectar, soy sauce for Braggs/coconut aminos/whatever, if you're doing it yourself. These places are iconic... They are proof that you can still have ANYTHING you want (burgers, cheesecake, you name it) and do it in a way that is totally congruent with the environmen

It's not what you read, it's how you read it. Even amazing nuggets of truth can be gleaned by listening to Faux talking heads like Bill O'Reilly if you listen to an issue and notice 1) what is vehemently mocked/denied and 2) what is completely omitted. I agree with Alex Jones more often than not, but he doesn't do much of anything to inspire hope (to say the least). But that's where raw food c

Toronto is a MECCA for raw food restaurants. My lifestyle there was amazing. Even corner stores sold fresh-squeezed orange juice by the liter (they squeeze it for you). SIGH. There's a few raw food restaurants on the west coast, but they don't stack up to anything I was accustomed to back east. One I literally cannot even stand going into because the service is SO HORRIBLE, EVERY SINGLE TIME..

I have read something about SMALL amounts of coffee offering some protection against Alzheimer's (not sure by what mechanism?), but even the key with that is SMALL. It's my job to (ha... ha) get everyone else coffee where I work, and they throw back cups and cups of it. Lots of people drink coffee to such an extreme, there's no way that can be good. Maybe... an espresso-sized cup of coffee

I know they are completely different, I was just suggesting TCM as another nice and very affordable alternative treatment, that does seem to have a bit more of science easily understood behind it. Homeopathy is nice, but I'm not even sure I believe it enough to bet an infection on it. TCM, I'd bet on it any day for that.

I was reading on the Sunrise Tofu website that major retailers refuse to carry their products if they label it non-GMO. The call for labeling is gaining momentum. Don't give up! And until then... read... labels... always.

Do you have a statistic for how frequently tomatoes are GMO? I heard they could be sometimes, like zucchini, but nowhere near the prevalence of corn or canola (more than 90%). I get regular tomatoes organic, but then it just occurred to me... I'm not in the mood for an untimely sterilization. =\ Can't wait until they LABEL this stuff!! I'll have to find a roadside farmer with boxes of organ

Whole Foods is generally a ripoff, UNLESS there is a sale. Last summer I got organic cherries for $3.99/pound, and in BC, there was nowhere else that had them cheaper. Off sale, though, they were twice that. So I'd buy like nine bags at a time... bwahaha. Definitely shop around! There's a store called T&T here. The one in downtown Vancouver had coconuts for $3.99/each... but the exac

I always try to get organic, if not raw olives. I always rinse them before putting them in salad (if they're soaked in sea salt... but not a huge deal!). They are the most mineral-dense fruit there is. Olives are MAGIC! <3
