is there anyone near you doing raw food prep classes or workshops? That might be a really good way of learning recipes, and the basic principles behind 'throwing things together' that taste fantastic? just a thought...... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

i totally get why people want to eat fruit and veg as it is.....i think that eventually, that is where we would all end up on our raw journeys....in an ideal world.....i used to eat like that a lot more when i was the only person i knew eating raw, and i didn't have to make food for anyone else. Now i am feeding people raw all the time, and i have to make full use of all the flavours in dishes,

thanks Jodi, that's really interesting information. I have bookmarked some of the articles to explore in more depth later.I've been reading 'Helping Ourselves: A Guide to traditional Chinese Food Energetics' by Daverick Leggett. Similar info, but working with 5 tastes. Food preparation is a true healing and creative art!! So much to learn Shell x ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi, sunflower greens are really easy to grow and they taste great....alfalfa can be grown into mini greens, they're super nutritious and easy to grow, too. If you have a juicer that can juice greens, wheatgrass and barleygrass can also be grown indoors. I recently saw somewhere on the internet a hydroponic system for indoors that grows abundant amounts of lettuce and other greens in a small a

I don't know why you get cooked cravings....but i can share with you that i eat a lot more before my period....it feels like craving although not for anything specific, just heavier food, like brazils, coconut, raw choc....the rest of the month i'm not so bothered. Like therese says, there's bound to be a raw food you can substitute for the cooked food cravings you are having. i'd be interest

Hi, sorry to hear you're feeling rough. Whenever I feel really rough, i have found that not eating at all, drinking plenty of fluids, and getting plenty of rest is the best way to allow the natural wisdom and healing capabilities of the body to get to work. I've recently had a cold, and been drinking bucket loads of green superjuice....celery apple barleygrass alfalfa & broccoli sprouts gi

Thanks for all your responses. David, that makes sense about some level of raw food being appropriate for everybody. And also the interpretation thing FO mentions.....my grandparents, for example, can only tolerate a very small amount of raw food. They are both on tonnes of medication, my gran has IBS and a host of other ailments...etc. I once gave her some aloe vera for the IBS which caused

I suppose you could always do fruit and veg....as long as you eat your fruit in the first part of the day and your veggies later....I recently did this for 6 days and loved it because it did not feel like I was missing out on anything! Perhaps sticking to one or the other would have a stronger effect....keep things simpler for the body i guess..... ~~~~~~~~~~

yeah, i really believe that too....that the benefits are so amazing that it's worth going through a bit of trial and error to find what's right for you. Support and information really helps.... According to traditional Ayurveda, there are certain constitutions that are not suited to raw foods....however, Gabriel Cousens seems to be of the opinion that all constitutions can do well with raw fo

Hi there, I've been settling into a comfortable way with raw food for 3yrs now, and feel that i am on the right path for me, my diet is still changing but i am basically happy. However, I know a few people in my extended social network who have really struggled with raw foods, got quite sick, and then not been able to tolerate much raw food at all. Why do you think this might be? Can this hap

Interesting question....I guess it's kind of different from WHAT do you eat (which is kinda how i answered before)..... Ideally I would sit down and be fully present with my food whenever I eat, but in reality I snack and nibble a lot, or drink my juice while I'm doing something else. I guess I'm a bit of a grazer....it might be beneficial if i made my eating times more regular and settled...

a vanilla pod is the same as a vanilla bean, but you can substitute vanilla essence. Let me know how it goes! Also, if you can get hold of lucuma, that's really good in the cake, just substitute it for some of the carob powder. xoxox ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

depends really.....mostly i'm just thirsty in the morning. But if it's cold, sometimes I feel hungry and might have banana flax porridge or something (soaked flax and banana blended). I'm always making different things, depending on what's available/in season. I develop recipes too so that keeps me on my toes! Might have a smoothie at lunch time, or a salad, or hemp superfood shake....I drink

ok....so a chocolate cake with no nuts...do you have some raw chocolate powder you can use? Carob powder compliments chocolate, and you can also substitute the carob for chocolate, good for sweetening too if you don't want to rely heavily on things like dried fruit and agave for sweetening. I prefer to use sesame seeds and dried coconut (which is not strictly raw), rather than nuts, in cakes.

Hi Case, when sprouting legumes (such as mung, lentil, aduki, chickpea) you probably want to soak overnight at least, and then let them grow a tail for a few days, They are edible raw, but i know some people who can only digest them when they have been cooked a little. There is some lovely information about sprouts at this site: Buying sprouted breads is ok as a transitionary element in your
