I have never had a headache from cacao, and I've eaten it lots of times. The only adverse effect I've ever felt was when I ate a large serving of cacao at midnight, then couldn't sleep till 3am, and I'm not 100% sure that my lack of sleep was due to the cacao, as I was already up late, working on a project. I feel that cacao affects different people differently. This is why some people have n

I am pretty strict on buying organic greens, and as for other things, I pick and choose based on price and affordability. If the price is similar I opt for organic, if it's 2-3 times more I stick with conventional. When I go out to eat I order salad and bring my own dressing. Or if they have fruit salad I order that. I'd rather prepare a raw meal, so I always opt out for having dinner at home

Just buy carob powder at your local health food store, it's fairly cheap, and mix with agave! Voila, carob sauce!

We use one, it's my parents old one from the 70s and it works perfectly fine. My husband is 6'2" and he uses it inside without hitting the ceiling! It's fun, doesn't hurt the joints like running can and the perfect exercise on a cold and blistery day.

Our regular diet is raw vegan, we are pretty happy with where were at! But it's great to cleanse a couple times a year, last Feb/March I just feasted for 45 days, and I've been feeling a desire to give it another go (on a smaller degree!)

Hi Kalin, Raw food can be as simple or as complex as you want. If you don't have all the fancy equipment, nothing is simpler, or faster than fresh fruit or veggies in their natural state! Kids love fruit, this should be an easy transition for a 3 year old! My nephew and niece around that age 4 and 2, are not raw, but predominantly eat fresh fruit, it's what they naturally choose, when they

Hi Wendy, I did the juice feast for 45 days last spring. It was incredible! The point of the feast is to consume as much as you are hungry for, this way you will still be providing your body with all of the nutrients you need, if you do this you will truly be feasting and not fasting. I drank 4 gallons a day most days (3 greens and 1 fruit - usually oranges). This provided me with all the calori

Haha! When I had an office job, I would drink green juice/ smoothies out of mason jars and had no problem smiling gracefully and saying I like my greens (o; I even had my coworkers sharing with me! Green smoothies are yummy! And if you ask me there aren't enough green foods! What's wrong with juice, salad, smoothies, fresh fruit, and delectable raw gourmet food? Absolutely nothing. Be happ

Were you referring to me Bruce? I don't believe cacao is full of addictive substances. I do not feel addicted to it in the slightest. Perhaps it's a personal thing. I don't come down on any raw fermented food. I enjoy raw sauerkraut, and use miso as well. I do believe that fresh is usually best, but we all come to raw food from a different place, and different strokes for different folks, you kno

Hi Horsea, It is important to have calcium at the same time as magnesium, to improve absorption of both. If you are looking to get magnesium from raw cacao, it's great flavor and improved absorption if you mix equal parts raw carob powder (high in calcium) with your raw cacao.

Thanks for sharing Ariel! I found this to be such a beautiful and moving story! The mother had killed every cub in litter after litter, before this cub was rescued. Were all the cubs unhealthy? Probably not, if this one lived for 9 years on an 'unnatural' diet! This was actually in the 1940s, so yes before hormone infested milk. The humans raising this lion, also took in several other

Thank you for sharing the vegetarian lion story, that was so powerful! My dog wont eat some greens on there own, like parsley, and some other leafy greens. She absolutely loves green smoothies, green juice, left over pulp from green juice. She also loves fruit, in all varieties. When we make green smoothies in the morning, she whimpers while it's blending to make sure we share with her!

I used to be a chocolate addict both as a vegetarian and as a vegan! Now I enjoy raw cacao, but I wouldn't say I crave it. If a recipe I want to make calls for it, or I want to create a recipe with it, I will do so... but I never make cacao because I'm craving it, I don't crave it. I do find it stimulating, in that if I eat a large portion of it, I will sleep less that night, or if I eat it v

Haha! I spent nearly $500 on my 9 tray with sheets, and shipping to Canada! And it was worth every penny. Definitely get the 5 or 9 tray.... depending on how much 'cooking' you intend to do! Sometimes if you have cravings, it can sure help to mimic cooked food. Also a great way to introduce others to raw foods!
