Also eliminate salt. According to a naturopath I used to see, sometimes citrus can also aggravate arthritis. He believed it was because all the citrus we get is picked before it's ripe and therefore is acidic.

Oh, January here and nary a peach in sight. I would give a lot for a big fat juicy organic white flesh peach right now. Sometimes I eat the skins, sometimes not. Depends on how lazy I am.

I have the Tribest and really like it. Never tried the magic bullet, so I can't compare the two. I use the Tribest for dressings and small stuff, also for grinding flax seeds; and my K-Tec for larger stuff. The Tribest works very well and has been reliable, had it for 2-3 years.

zekezized, I have trouble staying raw, too. What works for me is: FRUIT! And green smoothies. My current favorite green smoothie is: 2 apples 1/4 organic lemon, rind and all 2-4 dates (soaked to make them blendable) 1-2 handfuls of greens (parsley, cilantro, kale, whatever looks gorgeously green & fresh) Very refreshing, delicious, and cleansing.

Joanna, Psyllium/bentonite bulked up and turned into concrete, totally blocked me up every time I've tried it. And I've tried it about 6-8 times over the years, as parts o of various cleanses using a psyllium shake with laxative herbs and each time it was like swallowing concrete and kept me clogged big time for a long time, no matter how much of the laxative portion of the cleanse I took.

karennd, I just love making raw foods for my friends and seeing (and hearing!) their reactions. They are so blown away by how fantastic everything tastes, I feel like some sort of magician. It's amazing to me how the medical profession keeps believing in the remedies they've been prescribing that don't work. Such as the ones for diabetes. When within almost no time at all on a raw diet, ty

redstar, What a great question. In addition to what others have said.. There'd be far less pollution, cleaner water and air, and way way WAY more uncultivated wild land and forest. The water, land, and fuel costs of producing meat--and the pollution it creates--are huge.

Sometimes I bring nori rolls - sprouts, pate, avocado, onion, grated veggies, all wrapped in sushi nori. And/or fruit, dates, nuts. I used to make my own energy bars out of dates, hemp, walnuts, dried fruits, maca, goji berries, raw carob, dehydrated of course. Very delicious and filling, easy to carry. With prepared foods like the sushi and homemade energy bars, I wrap them in dye-free waxed

fmsing40, Congratulations and a big THANK YOU! I read your post to a friend with diabetes. I've been telling him about raw for a few years but your message really did the trick, because he's been having those readings on meds, too. Thank you thank you thank you for posting it. Anyhow, after reading your post, my friend came over to learn how to make some raw dishes. We made green smoot

aquadecoco and baltochef, I am also sensitive to scents. Or should we say 'scentsitive' ;-) ? Google 'toxic' and 'perfume' and you'll come up with reams of material on virtually all the scents used, they are mostly carcinogenic, very toxic. Once again our tax dollars at work for big business, letting the FDA and corporations put one over on the public. The manufacturers put the product in o

The best beds I've ever slept on are those air mattresses, when I was an overnight guest. Only problem is they have no insulation and are cold.

I used to love Cheetos, too. If I had to take a wild stab at it, I'd mandoline yams super thin to make them into chips, make a marinade of blended sauerkraut juice, lime juice, nama shoyu, garlic, onion, and sundried tomatoes, marinate them; and then dehydrate the heck out of them to try to make them crispy. Or, instead of slicing and marinating the yams, blend a mixture of yams and butte

Cynthia, I think what you are experiencing is a combination of low-level fatigue and transitioning to a different type of zest/awareness. When I first went raw, I went through weeks of exhaustion. I was seeing a naturopath at the time who explained that happened as the artificial stimulants (salt, cooked foods, etc.) were gone. It took some time of letting my body catch up on rest until I

I've never been to Dr. Fuhrman but I love his books. He's treated thousands of people, is a natural hygenist and an MD. He really knows his stuff. IMHO there's a huge benefit to working with someone with range of experience and training, rather than someone who just went raw themselves and now sets out their shingle as a coach.

I agree with frances, it's the tahini and garlic that does it. I've had delicious zucchini hummus and almond hummus. I also make a divine raw hummus with chickpeas. There are two tricks to it: 1) Soak the chick peas for a couple of days and rinse them very thoroughly and FREQUENTLY; 2) Use plenty of garlic and tahini, plus some olive oil. YMMV

Gosia, Thank you for the link to the excerpt. But from reading it I cannot fathom why people like this book. It presents nothing but a rant in which Tonya presents her opinion as fact. No substance whatever. I can't believe the positive reviews on Amazon. I'm convinced that they were planted by her friends, they can't be real.

I had that for about 3 years, not burning wood but some aftertaste/smell of durian. It was the weirdest thing. I ate some frozen durian once, just a little bit, and the smell stayed for years. Drove me nuts. I'm glad it's gone.

I've been doing it and really like it. Sometimes I wake up with a stuffy nose from allergies, or if I haven't been eating right. It's noticably better after 20 minutes of oil pulling. I use sesame oil. I usually do it first thing in the AM while I check my email. When I read about it, I thought it would be nasty to do, but it isn't. The 20 minutes goes by fast and 2-3 rinses of my mouth with
