Right, because you would think if you dehydrate vegetables then you would end up with kind of crunchy crumbly stuff...hmmmm...well, I am going to try tomatoe based and see what happens. I did end up leaving my mixture in the fridge because I can't find my teflex sheets, and the pulp separated from the water quite a bit, so that was good. Please let me know if you come up with a recipe that works

saunas are a good thing too - heat food! especially wood ones. my winter food additions include dehydrated burgers, sprouts and crackers. oranges wouldn't be good for me personally here in Canada, but apples work.

Instead of fruit leather, or rather, in addition to! does anyone else love to wrap up their food to eat with their hands? any recipes out there? I am making tomatoe/onion/parsley ones, as soon as I can find my teflex sheets for the dehydrator!

I believe that addiction theory, because I have felt it myself. We need each other to stay on track, people in real life who are likeminded and whom we can hang out with, talk with, evolve with... Right now I am the only person in my little world who eats raw. I know of others in the area, but rarely see them. Today I went to the Nelson farmers market and meet a woman from Quebec who was sellin

It has been very difficult for me lately to stay 100% raw all the time. If I do eat something cooked, it is the blue que pasa corn chips, or more rarely, popcorn. Anything else pretty much gives me a hangover feeling. While all raw feels the best, until I can devote enough time to making 'winter' type raw foods again, (dehydrated stuff mostly) sometimes my belly reaches for the chips out of de

The natural way of exercising...now, this is definately a philisophical opportunity... In my opinion, the only 'natural' way of exercising, is how our ancestors conducted themselves - building up their homes and communities and agriculture with physical exertion...and have you ever seen photos of 'primitive' peoples, some of which look absolutely physically beautiful when they are still young?

The easiest research might just be to take a look around and see what is growing in your neighbourhood, and if possible, talk to any local gardeners, especially old folks.

I just want to second what Bryan posted, that you have to exercise to gain muscle One thing I found on the raw diet, was that my body was extremely responsive to how I was using it, very effeciently losing some muscle mass when I had a desk job for awhile, then packing it back on plus some when I returned to outdoor living and lots of muscle work. One question here though, sorry to bump it

Hey Lil D Peace with you also! From my own personal experience, it took awhile to really find the best way for me to eat, all raw...I don't do well on to many oily foods, like avocadoes, and thrive best on mostly vegetables, bit of friut, sunflower seeds... sometimes on the raw diet as you start out, you go through de tox, and hair loss may be a part of that...otherwise, it is such a radic

you call it winter when you can still eat persimmons and oranges in december as they come ripe... let me tell you about winter...3 feet of snow, anywhere from end of october on to as late as mid april...kind of covers the bare dormant branches of any local fruit trees quite beautifully, sprarkling magically in the moonlit frosty air... apples come out of the root cellar, and thats it for fresh

kombucha is not made from sugar, it feeds on it, almost completely metabolizes it, and imparts many beneficial byproducts for the human body I sent two different kombucha samples to the lab, there was .045% caffeine and between .5 and 1% sugar, no alchohol if there is alchohol in it, it would be about the same as a bottled juice like apple, cherry, peach, etc...to little to have to even leg

sprouted chickpeas make good humus, the trick to it is how long the sprout tails are, they have to be exactly right, at least this has been my experience...for it to work right for me, the tails have to be as long as the bean itself, but no longer... then, to make a great humus, put them in the food processor with lemon juice, oil and salt, blend them up but not to much, just enough to make th

We have two nine tray excaliburs, and find that when making things like flax crackers and buckwheat crusts and such it is as much work to make 9 trays worth as less, so we make enough to fill one or even both dehydrators and don't have to do it to often

my favorite raw mushroom is Matsutake, better known as Pine Mushroom here in BC...we pick them wild ourselves, eat them fresh and dry lots for year round supply...also, chantrelles are great raw, or dried then rehydrated... I don't buy mushrooms from the store... This is looking like a great year for the Pines!

sunflower seeds are pretty cheap and packed with nutrition, it makes a great creamy pate or spread if you have a food processor, or sprout them a day and spike your salad with them... if you live in the southern parts, coconuts might be a good food to eat, not the Thai ones, I am thinking florida ones if you can get them... in my opinion raw food does not have to be expensive, and has been on

just an idea that worked for me when I ate out a lot, I would order a salad, no dressing, and guacamole, and put that on the salad, yum. or, just bring you own. We even bring our own avocadoes sometimes when eating places where there will be no guacamole. it is surprising though, what things are put in a salad, like cheese, bacon bits, etc...if you don't ask first you take your chances. also,

Hey Starfruit, thanks it was nice just to read your words. Socially was the biggest challenge, that's for sure. It took a while of eating cooked foods again though, to really have it sink in how great I felt on raw and how less than great when I ate cooked. And, it seemed like it took awhile, but slowly people were coming to accept my ways without a lot of attention, or less, as they got used
