thanks chaps :-) I'm quite hardcore anti-additive as far as toiletries and cosmetics go ;-) Something else has occurred to me though. This last week, I have been doing regular face exercises (circulation tapping etc), and it's weird that it's coincided with that. Maybe I am detoxing?

Ahhhhhh, good idea- my clothes I tend to wash with Soap Nuts, but my dad usually washes the bedding in who-knows-what! Thanks for the tip-off! :-)

I've always had sensitive skin but this last month, I have been healthier than ever before... tonnes of great raw food, water and exercise- but have been getting spots and some patches of dry skin that wont seem to budge :-( It always seems to be in the same place- usually the left hand side of my face around my cheek. Also, I rarely ever get spots anywhere else on my body, but lately I've bee

Thank you for the replies :-) I have both at home, and tend to favour olive oil because hemp oil makes me gag a little! I've been using hemp oil instead of olive for the past few days and I think it's helped my concentration at work

I barely ever see any raw recipes using hemp oil- is this because it doesn't taste as nice as olive oil, or is there another reason i.e. something 'unraw' with how it's processed? Also, which is healthier?

Aside from diet, check to make sure you're using natural household cleaning products as many mainstream brands contain irritants that also trigger hives (speaking from experience). I recall reading that raw food 'celeb' Shazzie used to chew up seaweed and give it to her daughter. It might be worth checking out her blog for some tips with feeding your kiddie raw food (http://www.shazzie.com).

99. Re: TEA
I read in a pamphlet recently that the tannin in tea can stop iron and other nutrients being absorbed by the body. The article was mainly referring to normal tea, but, if true, I wonder if this also applies to redbush tea and other caffeine-free tea, and to what degree? I'm personally limiting tea from now on as even the caffeine-free teas seem to stain the teeth. Also, after drinking pepperm

Thanks for all the great replies, guys Love this board Yesterday, I made a ridiculously huge salad and ate every last bite, and had a dragon fruit afterwards... I ate it a little bit later than normal dinner time, and didn't get ANY pangs for anything else. Yay! I think I may have just been undereating!

cosbynian- there is an enzyme in raw soy that will give you serious belly ache. From what I remember of my home tofu-making days, I think the soy beans have to literally be boiled for about 30-40 minutes to make them safe. I personally think organic soy used in the tofu products in the health food shops is far healthier & safer than the cheap soy used as 'filler' in other foods (especially

Okay, my new years resolution was to go raw pretty much 100%, primarily fruit. Yesterday, I ate: apples, oranges, chikoos, a big juicy pomolo, a pink grapefruit, banana, nuts and seeds, dried papaya, cashew butter and some other bits and pieces. Last night I came home- about half nine- feeling on top of the world, not hungry in the slightest- yet within about 15 minutes of being at home, I was

When I saw the name of the author, I cringed a bit (Lowri Turner tends to be quite negative about things!). But when I read the whole thing, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I liked the bit about the 'glow' at the bottom of the article.

I've never liked alcohol. It always tastes to me like something that isn't supposed to be in the human body. There seems to be a fair few raw foodists who enjoy the occasional organic vegetarian wine. If you are an ethical vegetarian, you'll want to stay clear of most alcohol (especially wine and beer) unless it's been labelled as vegetarian as many brands of beer and wine have had isinglass (

I've been washing surfaces/hands like crazy (going to clean the whole kitchen in a moment)! It sounds kind of gross, but yesterday I fed my cat and I could taste the smell of the meat in my mouth and it made me want to throw up. There was some documentary I watched years ago saying how most people's sinks contain more bacteria than their toilets. YIKES!!!

Locavore- love it! Never heard that saying before How have you been finding it? It is cheaper/more or less convenient etc? I agree about bananas. It's freezing cold today, and I had also had a banana (as part of breakfast). Something not right there! My primitive subconscious is probably thinking "eh? how'd that banana reach my tastebuds?" With eating locally/ by the seasons,

sndnance- this was often my problem too! Getting hungry and finding myself in front of non raw (sometimes junk) food. You could try buying a box of raw food bars such as Lara, Trek or Nakd and keep them in the kitchen or in your handbag, so if you arrive home STARVING, you can eat the raw food energy bar to temporarily fill you up until you get a chance to make a raw dinner That Juliano c

Thanks for your reply, David For a long time, I've had a calling to maybe live in a hot climate for a year or so to try it out! One day, hopefully! I think the main thing I'd miss would be melons! I'm not sure how many little fruits I'd have to eat to make up the calories/nutrition in a single melon!

I'm too lazy to sprout wheat for the bread/raw pizza base recipes etc so I make the flax-based onion bread (mixed with red peppers and things)... did you want me to post it or was it specifically a sprouted recipe you wanted?

How essential are hot climate/tropical fruits (coconuts, papayas, pineapple, bananas, melons, oranges etc) to a balanced fruitarian diet? Aside from the combo of raw foodism/veganism, the eco-friendly part of fruitarianism is a real draw for me. BUT if I'm eating imported fruit, that kind of defeats the purpose Is it possible to thrive on fruits that are UK grown (i.e. most berries, apples

Seabucktho- that's a great tip about the knee crossing thing Why do any of us cross our legs anyway? it's such a weird pose! Musicbebe- try adding a lot more iron into your diet (dark greens i.e. spinach, kale). The difference it makes is amazing! You could probably have a big spoon of molasses as well or instead of. I know it's not raw, but it's better to have the odd spoon of molasses than

Hello all, I am thinking of transitioning my cat to raw food. My only problem is with raw meat and bacteria. Is there anything I should be aware of when feeding my feline raw meat? i.e. any meat that is not recommended to be given when raw etc? Thanks in advance

I've been tempted to do a fast of some kind for some time now But, I've read that you shouldn't do a lot of exercise during a fast, that you should just chill out & relax etc. I do about 3-4 miles of fast walking per day at the moment to get to work and back (excluding any trips to the shops etc). Is it likely that I would feel faint if I was doing this during a fast (especially a water f
