For me tomatoes are an excellent food. When I first started raw, I was eating lots of raw onions and garlic. But over time, I let them go. Try this: don't eat onions and garlic for 3 months. Then go back and try them, and see if they still taste good to you. Do the same with tomatoes. After the fall season, I don't eat tomatoes for 6 months. But when they come back in season, I find them v

Edamame is cooked. Soy has a toxin that makes it indigestible in its raw state. There are some people who have figured out how to use fermentation to make soy digestible for them (perhaps not for everybody though).

Bananas are great for when I am looking for a less juicy fruit. They seem more solid and filling than other fruits, but are not concentrated like dates or dried fruit. Other tropical fruits (like mangos) offer a lot of calories and are filling.

When the body is compromised, like on the very first day you got sick, doing various treatments and therapies can further weaken the body. So all the various things you tried to eat to make things better potentially made things worse. Charcoal is not a normal thing the body expects. While the charcoal can absorb things, and your body can get rid of the charcoal, perhaps this extra load when y

It sounds like you have food poisoning. Its best to just stay in bed and only drink water until you feel well enough to eat. And then when you first start eating, eat simple mono fruits or tender leafy greens until you are sure you are better and can move on to more challenging foods to digest. Lots of rest and sleep will help your body heal faster.

Starch(cauliflower) and acid(vinaigrette) is a bad food combination, meaning that this combination will sit in your stomach a long time without digesting.

Raw means not cooked. Living means that the food is still alive. Some raw foods, say like those that have been sun dried or dehydrated, are not cooked but but they are definitely not alive. Some living foods, may not be raw, but could be alive - say like a unpasteurized miso - the beans are cooked, but there is a live culture of bacteria in the food. What I think works best are whole fre

Tamukha, While I agree that garlic can have healthful benefits for people eating a cooked diet (and all those past cultures you mentioned were eating cooked foods), for people who eat strictly raw, and who have moved away from the transitional raw foods (the gourmet recipes, etc), who are eating a diet of simple whole fruits and vegetables, garlic definitely doesn't feel as good as it did when

plainlydressed, I put the entire recipe into the nutritional calculator. I notice you broke up the recipe into a smaller portion - the olive oil portion is 1/5 of the total. Multiply your calorie number by 5, and you will get similar numbers to mine.

Well, I guess if you have a God that can create a poison in garlic that only kills bad bacteria, and not the good bacteria, then you can also have a God that only creates the good people, and doesn't have anything to do with the bad people

plainlydressed, How does a natural antibiotic know how to kill bad bacteria and leave the good ones behind? In fact, the toxin in garlic kills every cell it comes in direct contact with. Fortunately, your body will create mucus to keep much of that toxin from coming into contact with your cells, and it works like crazy to move the toxin out of the body as soon as possible, sending it out of

Tamukha, Interesting argument, "good enough for the Roman Legion". Of course, they ate cooked food in addition to garlic. So does that mean you are going to eat that food also?

Having a low fat whole foods vegan diet would help a lot. Or a low fat raw vegan diet. His family should see the DVD Healing Cancer From Inside Out. Also, there is an raw food oncologist named Dr. Thomas Lodi, with videos on YouTube who is worth checking out.

My experience is that peace, joy and wisdom come more from letting go rather than doing something. This is described in various spiritual texts. In the Hsin Hsin Ming, there is a line that goes something like "quit thinking and your problems will go away".

It could be you are sick because your body is detoxing all the medications (or poisons) that were necessary for you to take when you had your shoulder surgery. Its a shame that your doctors are blaming it on the swine flu, as there really is no such thing. The swine flu as the media and doctors define it, which is a strain of virus that mutated and transcended species is a bunch of nonsense (or m

Custard apples and cherimoya are related, but they are not the same. The custard apple has a lumpy surface, whereas the cherimoya has a flatter, faceted surface. The flesh and seeds are very similar though.

112. Re: Angry
Its not so much the quantities good thing you eat that matter. Its how few of the bad things you eat that determine your health. After some time of eating raw foods, your body is no longer nutrient OR mineral OR amino acid OR fatty acid deficient. So then its just a matter of how much toxins you are putting in your body that determines whether you're going to be sick. After a few years of bein

113. Re: Angry
Perhaps your body is taking you to the next level of health. Your body being sick is because your body is removing toxins from within. These toxins come from the cooked elements of your diet, and perhaps there are some elements of your lifestyle that are not as healthful as they could be. Are you getting enough rest and sleep each night in general? So your body is working as it should. I would

HK, You can choose to be proactive or reactive about your healing. If you are proactive, you will heal in less time. If you are reactive, you will experience more pain and more damage to your body, and you will suffer for a longer period of time. Being proactive is recognizing that something isn't working right now with your life situation, and making the changes necessary for things to wor

HK, I think that diet may not be the only thing you need to consider when trying to heal your UC. For healing to occur, there needs to be a clean diet, which I think you are working on quite well. But your body may need some additional help to allow itself to heal. The main thing would be more rest and sleep. You have a stressful jobs, and stress takes away from your body's ability to heal. Re

I would have recommended exactly what you did. But to most people, when you say stuff like this, they look at you like you come from outer space - totally alien! For these kind of responses that you received, you just can't take them personally. If these people had the healing experiences you've had with raw foods, they wouldn't be saying these things. But this stuff you recommended is way out

For eating raw foods, simple sugars, which are found in fruit, are easier for the body to digest than complex carbohydrates. Also fruit taste great all by itself. Raw starchy foods, say like a raw potato or raw wheat, has very little taste. For me, given a choice between a plate of mangoes and a plate of raw potatoes, I'll take the mangoes.
