I'm far from an expert here. I juice greens and add a lemon and apple -- that is my first meal of the day. Sometimes I juice another green drink in mid-afternoon. I don't understand why someone would blend fruits -- I eat fruits in their natural state.

I stopped using the forum and then one day got a craving for a non-raw food and ate it and then ate a non-raw food the next day, etc. So I'm thinking that maybe I better keep reading and posting on these boards to keep myself eating raw!

I appreciate all of the answers those of you have given to me on the boards for the almost 3 weeks that I have been eating raw food. The boards have been very helpful to me, and I an grateful for that. I'm going to step away now. After spending some time on the boards I'm finding that you just can't get away from contentious internet posters no matter where you go! Its something that I don'

I don't know if its bad, but I've been doing it now for almost 3 weeks and it hasn't made me feel uncomfortable in any way! I purchased this little Home pH test kit 2 weeks ago and haven't opened it up yet. I figure I'll get to it eventually!

I need to purchase some tack, including a saddle, and I'm willing to try a vegan saddle, but I'd like to hear from someone who personally owns vegan tack. Anyone out there?

Suncloud, Personally, I think that less swelling is simply more comfortable. I don't think it will cause the injury to heal faster, although it could lessen some internal bleeding at the injury site. I'm not sure that the body is overresponding when it develops a fluid pad. I think if it is a healthy body, the response is more likely just what the body needs, but the person thinks he/she kn

I dunno. I've been a meat eater my entire life up until almost 3 weeks ago. Only time I think my body has had this response is when I have had an actually physical injury, and I think the body responds that way to isolate the injury and to "pad" it with fluid to help keep it protected from getting reinjured.

Jericho, Perhaps its too soon for me to feel weak and exhausted cause I feel totally energized. I didn't feel poorly when I started raw 2.5 weeks ago. I have always been really healthy, even eating a SAD diet. But I wanted to do something better for my body and turned to raw. One of my friends has noticed that I'm always carrying around fruit and asked about it. Thus, the conversation a

Hi, I'll share my experience, but I've only been eating raw for 2.5 weeks now. My first week I went to a "health food" grocery store and purchased a HUGE quantity of organic fruits and vegetables. I had no idea how much I should buy, how much I would be eating, etc. That grocery bill was very high and some of what I bought went to waste because I couldn't eat it fast enough.

I agree on the interest part. I've had a few people ask me about it when I've told them that I've switched to a raw diet, so I've been sharing info with them. The friend who is going to purchase a juicer eats a lot of almonds -- I opened up the topic with her by suggesting that she read up on the benefits of soaking her nuts first!!

I've been talking about my change to a raw diet to 3 people so far. One of them has decided to start eating more fresh fruit. The other one told me yesterday that she is going to purchase a juicer now -- she is already reading about how cooking destroys the nutrients in food.

Jericho, The OP asked if there was anything we do, especially after weight training or power training. Prior to going raw 2.5 weeks ago, I made sure that I drank a protein drink. I haven't used any of my protein powder after going raw. Do you have any recommendations here for after weight training or power training? Right now, if I'm hungry I eat something. If I'm not hungry I don't eat a

How did humans get the necessary B-12 vitamins before vitamins were marketed? Personally, I don't care whether 100% raw was or was not the diet for humans thousands of years ago, I just care that raw is extremely healthy NOWADAYS and that is my reason for switching to raw just a short time ago. Why did you switch to raw?

I am VERY active physically. I've only been raw for 2.5 weeks now, but my energy level has actually gone up, which I really didn't expect, since I was already pretty high energy. I am eating lots of veggies by juicing them (and add a couple of fruits for flavor) and then eat my fruits in their natural form. If I am going to do something that will be a really tough workout, I eat fruit about 30

You said you know you are on the internet all the time. Is this taking a lot of time away from your relationship? Have you read enough on the internet (and with experience with eating various things) to establish a diet for yourself that won't bother your disease very much? Are you actually learning valuable new things about your disease all the time on the internet or are you using the intern

Your initial question asked about maintaining weight though. I assume his blog does not say that if you cut down on calories and continue to expend the same amount of energy that you will maintain your weight!

Your weight is very much a function of calories consumed vs energy expended. If you consume less calories then energy expended you will loose weight.

I can only respond to your comment about rapid weight loss that accompanies the switch to raw. Rapid weight loss is not necessary (nor do I think it would be healthy) when you switch to raw -- you just need to eat enough, and if you want to loose, then monitor your weight loss and make sure you eat enough to avoid loosing too much too fast.

You can purchase mesh strainers that are fine enough to remove the seeds. You could blend them first and then push the blended blackberries thru the strainer using a spoon.

Personally, I think its all the "licensed" therapists in the world who are pushing this info off on the media, using the media as a free way to gather more patients. These $2 shrinks will try to find something wrong with everyone in order to "help" them.
