Peanuts that are going to be sitting on a shelf for months need to have some protection from molds and fungus. One way to do this is to cook or dehydrate it, to remove the moisture and make the peanut less likely to go rancid or to spoil or to rot.

I don't eat sprouted chickpeas. I don't have experience with them, but I have heard that they can be hard to digest. Many people will make a raw hummus using zucchini instead of chickpeas. But others have had good experience with sprouted chickpeas. You will have to see if they work for you.

spekgirl, Don't be in such a hurry to be 100% raw. Find out what works for you, and make progress over a series of weeks or months or years, not days. Your body is used to a lifetime of cooked foods, and there is a lot of healing that needs to happen, and you need to get adjusted to the new feelings and awareness as your body heals.

This is a great transitional raw diet, much cleaner than what I did. I slowly transition from cooked to raw over 6 months, and I was eating SAD when I started, and still eating SAD for the non-raw part until I transitioned. Also, I didn't get started on 80-10-10 until 6 months of being all raw, and then it took me 2 years to get to under 10% fat. So you are doing quite well.

superinfinity, It seems you are getting quite emotional about this subject. It it really that big of a deal, whether a peanut is a truly a nut or a legume?

Well, they are legumes. Nuts grow on trees. Peanuts grow on a plant on the ground. You can call it a nut. Does it really matter what we call it?

The Widowmaker is scary. ----------------------- The Widowmaker 1.5 lbs of ground beef, 1 package of bacon, 1 package of italian sausage, 1 box of hot pockets, 1/2 package of fried onion strips between 2 Tombstone Pepperoni Pizzas topped with Velveta Cheese and Marinara Sauce.

I have been all raw for nearly 8 years. I started with raw foods 6 months before becoming all raw. I don't always get all the sleep my body wants, but I like to get 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night when possible. And if I need to be up in 6 hours, I can do that quite easily, if my previous night's meal was fat free or very low fat. You're bodies being in very deep sleep at 7am suggests that your

Its best to buy the book. You can get tidbits here and there, but you'll still be missing a lot of information. Also, it can take some time to transition from a standard diet or even an all raw diet into a low fat high fruit diet. But for a starting place, eat all fruit for breakfast and lunch. For dinner eat some fruit and a salad.

Thanks jodi, This looks like the ads that are normally on the bottom of the page are not loading. I'll send a message to John to see if he can fix this.

There is nothing wrong here. The standard diet is chock full of stimulants, so its natural that going to a raw diet might have the effect of making you sleep more. Also, if your body is doing some housekeeping (detoxing or cleansing), this sleep is where the bulk of that housekeeping is occurring. Get the extra sleep and be thankful for it, as it is healing your body. In time, when your body

Most fruit will food combine well with tender leafy greens like the various lettuces or celery. But a lot of vegetables found in a salad may not combine well with bananas. Tomatoes or anything acidic will not combine. If your dressing has some acidic substance in it, that won't work so well either.

133. Re: Tired
Mseight04, Perhaps you ought to take a few weeks off from school/work so that you can sleep. Explain to your advisor that you are sick and your body is calling for a lot of sleep right now. Even if you have to stay out of school a quarter or semester, this is a small price to pay for your health. Perhaps you can get a loan from family or friends to carry you over during this time of heali

In this article Obesity could become top cancer cause obesity is declared as the top cause of cancer. However, this is avoiding the real issue. What causes obesity? Answer: the standard western diet. Cooked processed foods. Animal products. The media has no courage when it comes to writing the truth.

debbie, My toenail fungus went away after I became all raw. In addition to eating all raw, I recommend going barefoot as much as possible, or wearing sandal or other open toed footware. Also getting a lot of sun on your toes helps.

pboast, That is 25% cooked food by volume. So if you eat 1 cup of tofu in a day, and 3 cups of lettuce that same day, what is the percentage of cooked versus raw when you compare calories? I leave this as an exercise to the reader.

Everything I've ever read about AGE (advanced glycation endproducts) has to do with heat treated foods, that is, cooked foods. Articles about high fructose issues will usually have a disclaimer like the one below that does not include fruit as an issue. From Men's Blood Pressure Increased By High-Sugar Diet QuoteFruit, which has just 4 g to 10 g of fructose per serving, also contains many ben

Pretty much when people start quoting Clement or Fuhrman the diet followed is a cooked vegan diet with a raw component.

They probably won't kill you, but how do they taste to you? I don't like the taste of crushed grape seeds. When I eat concords, I swallow the seeds but I don't chew them, so I don't get any taste and they are not absorbed by my body. But if you blend them, you will taste the insides.

How much exercise do you get in a week? Doing aerobic exercises that move the body around, say like running, really get the elimination going. Or walking an hour a day might also give you the same effect.

142. Re: Tired
Mseight04, Don't add the superfoods to counter your fatigue. This will just cover up and suppress the symptoms without achieving any real healing. And all this will do is defer the healing (and perhaps make your condition worse). What your body is asking for is rest. For me, when I went from a high fat raw diet to a low fat raw diet, I became fatigued all the time. But I realized this was d

Lizard, Sounds good to me. Like you, I eat my fats after I'm done eating fruit for the day. I tried wheatgrass when I was first transitioning. It was one of those things I was drinking because I had heard it was a healthy drink. But at some point, my body just said no. For me, I quit wheatgrass before I started the low fat high fruit raw diet.

Salmonella comes from the digestive systems of animals. The only way it could get on your vegetables is if the veggies were washed with tainted water. If a very healthy raw foodist eats some tainted vegetables, there will probably be little if any symptoms. Bacteria live off of dead and dying cells, which there are plenty of those in a person eating SAD, but a person doing raw foods for a few

I started my raw vegan transition over 8 years ago. This Christmas will be my 8 year anniversary of being 100% raw (well, minus the questionable stuff in gourmet raw foods). I started the high fruit raw diet about 7.5 years ago. By the time I went to the high fruit raw diet, I quit using honey, so my diet was all raw vegan. So for me, over 7.5 years all raw vegan.
